Bally's reveals 'refreshed' hotel, casino design

Both of Bally's press releases on 7/12 mention a planned land-based Bally's casino in State College, PA. Will GLPI be involved with financing that casino also? Why is that project currently never mentioned in the media anymore? Folks near the Nittany Mall in State College are quick to point out that the Bally's casino won't be near the mall as the Bally's news releases describe the location. It will be located in a former Macy's department store that is INSIDE the Nittany Mall. Bally's was probably just kidding when mentioning "NEAR" the mall in every Bally's press release for the past two years, right? How many folks have seen a brand-new casino in a shopping mall?

Casinos are like stadiums, they never deliver the benefits promised. It’s just a giant money vacuum designed to extract wealth from local residents (the only reliable stream of revenue) and send it out if state to owners favorite tax shelter.

According to the local media, the temporary location is not bringing in the expected tax revenue. Chicago at June 30th expected $30 million in revenue but got $3 million. The casino boat sailed about 10 years ago for Chicago. People are going to safer areas such as the suburbs or Indiana, not into an unsafe area.

Should the old Tribune building just sit there and rot?

They never end up looking like that just like food ads and graffiti will cover it like all the other buildings in Chicago.
