French Fashion House Balmain has partnered with Disney to launch a new collection inspired by 'The Lion King'. This collaboration celebrates the film's 30th anniversary and the upcoming release of 'Mufasa: The Lion King'. The collection includes ready-to-wear and accessories infused with themes from the story, characters, and African landscapes. Balmain's Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, who has a personal connection to the film since childhood, curated the collection with meticulous tailoring and the brand's distinctive "New French Style". The designs feature prints by three emerging artists from Cameroon and South Africa, emphasizing authenticity and creative vision. Balmain also collaborated with Nigerian director Femi Oladigbolu to produce a short film showcasing the collection in the African settings that inspired it. Rousteing, influenced by his own heritage traced to Somalia and Ethiopia, expressed how African artistry consistently influences his designs. His journey and collaboration process will be featured in a documentary streaming on Hulu starting July 10.
