Par godu Baltijas ceļa 30 gadadienai, Latvijas institūts radījis iniciatīvu un īsfilmu #ActBalticWay . Īsfilmas radošā ideja balstās uz iespēju vārdu salikumu "Baltic way" tulkot arī kā "Baltijas stils". Filma rosina vērtēt, kā "Baltic way" darbotos šodien - politikā, sadzīvē, attiecībās un citur. Latvijas, Igaunijas un Lietuvas cilvēku mierpilnā, bet mērķtiecīgā sadošanās rokās atbildīgā un nevardarbīgā veidā, pievērsa pasaules uzmanību Baltijas valstu situācijai un risināja problēmu. "Act Baltic Way" ir aicinājums uz apzinātu rīcību šodien, -laikā, kad protesta jēdziens pasaulē arvien biežāk saistās ar agresiju, grautiņiem, terora aktiem vai citām negatīvām izpausmēm, ko redzam dzīvē vai ziņās.
Interesanta detaļa - īsfilma ir filmēta uz 16 mm lentas, tādējādi radot arī vizuālu saiti ar 1989.gada videomateriāliem. Filma tapusi, pateicoties visu iesaistīto atsaucībai - gan filmēšanas komandai, gan vairāk nekā 60dalībniekiem, kuri piekrita piedalīties šajā projektā idejas, nevis atalgojuma vārdā. Īpašs paldies atsaucīgajiem cilvēkiem ar kustību traucējumiem, kuri pārvarēja grūtības, lai ierastos uz filmēšanu, kā arī skolēniem, kuri ziedoja savas vasaras brīvdienas...

1989. gada 23. augustā aptuveni divi miljoni Latvijas, Lietuvas un Igaunijas iedzīvotāju sadevās rokās, savienojot Baltijas valstu galvaspilsētas Tallinu, Rīgu un Viļņu, lai pieminētu 1939. gada 23. augustā starp Vāciju un PSRS parakstīto Molotova-Ribentropa paktu un vienam otru stiprinātu cīņā par kopīgu mērķi - Baltijas valstu neatkarības atgūšanu.

The creative idea of the short film is based on the possibility to translate the word "Baltic way" as "Baltic style". The film encourages us to evaluate how the Baltic Way works today - in politics, in everyday life, in relationships and elsewhere. The peaceful and purposeful human chain, created by the people of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania in a responsible and non-violent way, drew the world's attention to the situation in the Baltic States and solved the problem.
Act Baltic Way is a call for conscious action today, at a time when the concept of protest in the world is increasingly associated with aggression, pests, acts of terrorism or other negative manifestations of life or news.
An interesting detail - the short film is filmed on a 16mm film, thus creating a visual link to the 1989 video footage. The film was made thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, both the film crew and the more than 60 cast members who agreed to participate in the project in the name of idea rather than reward. Special thanks to the responsive people with reduced mobility who overcame the difficulty of coming to film and the students who donated their summer holidays ...

On August 23, 1989, approximately two million inhabitants of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia joined hands, uniting the Baltic capitals of Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, to commemorate the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed on August 23, 1939 between Germany and the USSR and to strengthen each other on the common goal of regaining the independence of the Baltic States.
