The placement of the camera to catch the orioles and the red-bellied woodpecker is perfect. I live in northwestern PA and I have males and females of both species visit my oranges, too, plus catbirds who like to visit in the evenings. The video is stunning! Thank you. By the way, what's with the 10 people who dislike this video?
Such a cool bird, great video. I saw my first of these birds in Ontario last week and now have noticed them a few times. They always seem to be really high in the trees.
I get so excited every year when they come back. this year they stayed the longest. was never fortunate enough to have them bring their fledglings to the yard though.
Edit to the Biblical story: On the eighth day, after a nice rest, God looked around, cracked his knuckles, and said, "OK, last week was just practice, now I'm gonna really get serious and make birds." Videos like this help us appreciate how well he did.
i have done this for years...people wonder why my yard is decorated in orange halves. haha. they devour them within one to three days. but every year except last year (something untoward is happening to our song birds, folks)...they nest in my yard. i sing to them, too. and they sing right back. but we didn’t have much a spring migration last year. can you hear the mourning dove in the background? ha. and look at that woodpecker! what a great video!
Man, those orioles are skittish. I guess with bright conspicuous coloring like that, they're wired by Mother Nature to be. It just makes it darn near impossible to appreciate them up close. Kudos on the amazing crystal clear footage of both birds. It makes me want to go invest in a quality outdoor cam.
Nice video! I have one in front of the gopro in the backyard as I am youtubing. Always fun to see the birds "share" the same feed. You've got me wondering now if the one I thought was a female is actually a juvinille male?
WOW- The video footage is extremely excellent, dude, like something you only see on Animal Planet, funny thing is,I keep hearing his "claws"pearched on the go-pro stick,(LOL!)Well Done!!!
Awesome bro! Beautiful animals. Damn, I wish I could just WHAM! Fly off in milliseconds! Ha, that'd be fun! Shorter lifespan but..geez! The views you can have!?
What a great video capture. We have had more and more float thrunour area in the last several years. Last summer, a pair actually stayed all summer. I hope we get more. They are such a bright orange, they really stick out. We just love them. Seriously people, what 14 idiots gave this a thumbs down!
Tom, we have hawks around but not to many causing problems. The Orioles come around every year. They do nest in the area too. Every spring as soon as I hear them I put oranges and grape jelly out. They usually are there within 10-20 minutes eating
