Bambu fixed everything that I hated about 3D printing. It's as if every company gets their product 90% completed and then gets the community to fix all their issues by calling it "open source." Finally, someone designed a product that didn't require another 2-3 days of tweaking and assembly.

The W in "Support W" stands for "White" which is the colour of the support material, identifying it as the support material that Bambu sells for PLA. Their "Support G" material is green and is made for supporting PA and PET (but not PETG). They are not water soluble, but will easily break away from the material they're supporting, leaving a clean surface. The best way to use them is to print a thin interface layer between your supports and the object (both of which should be in the main, cheaper material).
@DesktopMakes
@DesktopMakes Год назад
Thanks Hamstah. But I'm still left wondering what the material is? Other support material will list what it is such as PVA or HIPS.

Best printer I have ever bought. I now have 3 X1 Carbon AMS units. So far I had them for just over a week and 180 hrs so solid printing for a week. One failed print, user error on my part. Maybe 10 kg of pla has gone through each printer and all on sport mode. No extra noises coming from the unit. The Creality units I bought all had new noises and rattles after a week!
@ashvanes484
@ashvanes484 Год назад
I have had mine for all of a week and we had a few getting to know each other moments, but on the whole this thing is way, way, way classed above my other printers (3 Enders of different vintage and upgrades). They will still have their jobs, I just like to figure out what each is best for and will route work their way based on that.

I don’t think that bottom layer is perfect at all. It’s full of holes. I get that they’re trying to make a name for themselves but speeding through the first layer isn’t the way to go. I won’t go above 60 for my first layer speed.

Great video, well explained, excellent quality photography, clear and concise, no irritating music in the background. I'm printing with my Bambu right now. Instructions are really lacking in the "Quick Start" manual.

Do you have, or know of a tutorial to connect Bambu splicer to printer? My slicer program won't "find device" and I can't figure out what is wrong. I've done everything every manual, video has suggested to do.

@DesktopMakes

No, it just needs to be applied occasionally. I'll wash the plate with dish soap and warm water and reapply only when it gives me trouble sticking again.

Did either of you resolve this? I'm new at 3D printing and my attempts at printing Benchy have all ended in gobs of PLA all over the nozzle and nothing stuck to the bed. I'm using the green Basic PLA that came with the printer, on the PLA side of the flexible bed that came pre-installed. I've noticed 4 or 5 cm of material comes out of the nozzle during the XY harmonics calibration step. Not sure if that's normal.
@AetherPirate1
@AetherPirate1 Год назад
@jonathanfuerth1019 the filament coming out of the nozzle is normal, it's just purging itself. One con of the bambu is it seems there's a lot of wasted filament

It's a game changer. In the desktop app you can select which roll is where. The bambu filament has rfid so it can automatically populate the ams settings.

I didn't go all the way to an X1C but just got the P1S and I'm equally impressed, after working with a Prusa MK2S for a few years. In the last 3 weeks I've had one print failure, when I forgot to put the magnetic build plate back before printing lol

I just received my X-1 Carbon. As you noticed, setup was a little tricky. I managed to dislodge the foam under the build plate before calibration (it was hard!) and later realized I was supposed to calibrate first. Ugh! Calibration failed on the first try, but succeeded on the second. I get errors somewhat frequently (like filament loading error) but the it generally seems to fix the problem on a "retry." I'm still learning but I am really impressed with the speed and quality.

Can you tell me if you see any vertical line print issues? Like what I get from my Prusa MK4S+? Apparently the new MK4 has higher resolution stepper motors and does not occur. I print large boxes and printing large flat surfaces you really see them with the MK4S+. If this is not an issue with this printer I may purchase one, especially since the print volume is larger than the MK4. Thanks!

I’m curious how to get the filament to change in the carriage as I cannot get mine to switch either. Help please.

Just set mine up yesterday, found a little quirk you started to touch on. To take the cardboard off the tool head I pulled it left an inch or so, and I didn’t put it back. Mine failed to calibrate three times before I wondered if that starting point was the issue, so I pushed it back against the right edge and then it was all happy. I am super impressed at how easy it is to use. I have a good quality Zortrax but by comparison it’s very clunky. Tonight I’m planning to do a three colour print in one go! I typically have to set up the Zortrax for each colour and do three prints and glue/weld them together so I’m so freaking excited to have them come out with no joints!

Any help would be appreciated, ive been struggling since getting mine. I just can't get my first layer to stick well, i have tried multiple different spools, with and without the AMS system, completely cleaning and reapplying glue, etc (ive only attempted about 30 prints so far and of those 30, i have only had a handful of ones successful), they always end up spooling everywhere or the first layer not adhearing/sticking every single time. I've tried slowing it down, doing it with/without glue, lowering or increasing temps (both extruder/bed), different brands of filaments, im just at a loss of why im having such a terrible experience with this printer. Then I have never been able to get it to detect the build plate localization (maybe thats my main issue...?)

@TheSubsonicOne

i agree. same bullsh!t. 1st layer won't stick. I'm having no luck getting them to take it back. Very, very upset. I've tried everything: glue stick, hair spray, PEI plate, temp of plate increased, temp of plate in the middle, washing plate with dish soap and drying thoroughly, wiping it down with alcohol. Everything. Nothing is getting the 1st layer to stick correctly. I'm pretty certain the extruder head is too far from the plate. If I can GET it to stick, the rest of the model prints perfectly.

Great video! Unfortunately, my experience has been awful. I received a faulty printer and when I reached out to support they took 3 days to get back to me. They had me troubleshoot the printer and after a week of going back and forth, the AC Power board was faulty. Instead of sending me a working 3D printer they are having to fix their broken machine. I asked for a replacement and they ignored my question completely. It looks like an amazing printer but their customer support is awful!!! I recommend buying a PRUSA printer.
