The Band and Bugles of The Rifles providing musical support for Changing the Guard in Windsor on 30 April 2024.
The crowds were relatively light and the weather was sunny, but unfortunately it was very windy, and aircraft were coming in to land over Windsor so were flying very low; this resulted in me having to cut quite a lot off the raw footage.
I'd like to thank Delvin Rodriguez for providing the missing names for the first 4 marches since my original posting.
0:00 The band and bugles emerging from the barracks and marching up Sheet Street and round into the High Street on their way to Windsor Castle, leading the New Guard, playing "Bab El Mandeb" and then "Quick Silver".
3:20 Not much to see here at first for the volume of crowds, but at least most of the music can be heard! The band and bugles marching off the High Street and up Castle Hill and entering the castle, leading the New Guard, playing "Silver Bugles" and then "Le Regiment de Sambre et Meuse".
5:09 The band and bugles (the bugles now aren't playing) marching back down Windsor High Street and round into Sheet Street, leading the Old Guard, playing "Bravura" (Charles E.Duble), and then "Sons of the Brave" (Thomas Bidgood).
7:27 The band and bugles (the bugles now aren't playing), leading the Old Guard, marching further down Sheet Street and nearing the barracks, still playing the last few bars of "Sons of the Brave" (Thomas Bidgood), and then starting "Colchester Castle" (Earl Brigham).

Hi Delvin, good to hear from you, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Many thanks for the 4 missing march names - I've now incorporated them into my Description of the video. This was the first time I'd ever seen this band, complete with bugles, first-hand, and it was certainly a spectacular sight and sound! I know that there are a few videos of it on RU-vid, but, in particular at Windsor, they are few and far between.

Surely not a sword a bayonet you mean😊

@@thecurlew7403 Hi Light infantry always call the bayonet a sword, it stems from the history of the regiments, it’s just one of the characteristics of the British Army Regiment systems, also The Royal Green Jackets, can toast the King /Queen sitting down in the mess, just another little quirk of different regiments history.

Great video. Only band fast enough for the Gurkhas, haha! And neat how they went back to 120 for the old guard.

Hi, Mike! Thank you for videoing. I see my favorite policeman, “officer backward step,” my elderly gentleman friend (green jacket), and maybe my lady friend? Someone that looked like her was holding a cellphone up

Hi Charlotte, and thanks! I trust you saw that your gentleman friend actually appeared in 2 different places in this video, and also appeared right near me in the previous video on 25 April (the video on which comments had been turned off for some reason). I actually saw and heard your favourite policeman having a quick informal chat with a couple of spectators after the parade yesterday. He was shorter than I expected and, although I don't like trying to guess at people's accents, sounded as if he comes from a lot further north, not from the local area. His deportment and bearing is, as you say, superb. I didn't, unfortunately, see your lady friend yesterday, but that doesn't necessarily mean she wasn't there!

Guards seemed to be marching at more than 120 did the band get carried away on the return barracks?
@MikeM14-40
@MikeM14-40 Месяц назад
Hello@@johnsabini2330 , yes, I thought it sounded slightly fast on the return march as well, compared to what the Household guards usually march at, although I haven't measured it with a metronome.
