No matter how big a venue they play, with however many lasers and jumbotrons, I think that at their heart they will always be the kind of band we see here. And that will make all the difference.
211, 864 views, well deserved, comment 284.. Miku is not faking the enthusiasm. She radiates pure joy. They know they rock. We know they know they rock. They know we know they know they rock. I hope this makes it on the '23 tour.
Great performance! Miku's mini-solo was a pleasant surprise. She's really worked very hard to get here without any previous desire to be a guitarist (at least not to my knowledge). She started BAND-MAID thinking she would be the singer (as she must have idolized many singers growing up) and had to rewire herself and put in the life-changing hours to become a guitarist, while still working on her vocals too! Knowing her, she may start to work on composing as well! I don't think our little pigeon settles for long..
Did anyone ever want to be a rock star more than Miku? Well she's made it in the best rock band in the world. She should go on her knees to thank Kanami for her excellent teaching and indulgence.
Miku's really become a rock goddess and mastering the stage! So great to see the Maids support each other and raise each other to greater heights of achievement.
Miku's guitar playing has improved in front of our eyes throughout the years in live performances. She is very determined. She has the best teacher in the band.
Indeed - if you look at the live videos from 3-4 years ago when her guitar playing wasn't as strong they kept her volume down in the mix so low you could barely her her at all. You can now hear her driving the songs as much as Kanami!
Miku plays better and better and you can see her confidence growing all the time. Finally got to see them live, wasn't disappointed, it was fun to see Miku and SAIKI reacting to the audience. And I do hope they come back next year.
I believe there is 5, Saiki's instrument is her voice, btw she plays real instruments at home, keyboard and guitar that is. Not on Kanami's level though :-)
@@jan-ovepedersen5764 As you and others have said many people that listen to Band-Maid cannot understand Japanese and consider the vocals as another instrument and I agree. This song is a break for Saiki to rest her voice. But "don't be long" please! 😉
Just got home from this show, so consider this a review. The show was about an hour and 45 minutes long and they did around twenty songs and a couple of new ones were thrown in. There were couple of breaks where Miku worked the crowd as only she can do. MISA played in stockings and Kanami in flats. The girls kicked ass, as expected, and seemed genuinely happy at the warm reception they got their first time in New York. Saiki seemed surprised at all the singing along that was going on. They promised to come back next year and I can hardly wait. The meet-and-greet was like you go down the stairs and they are right there sitting at a table in front of you. The management dickheads took away the gifts I brought with me, so I wasn't able to give them to each one personally. (Enjoy the hats, girls). I did get to wish Kanami a happy birthday. A few surprises at the meet-and-greet: 1) The girls are much prettier in real life than what you see in the videos. 2) They are all really tiny. I'm not a big guy and knew they weren't that tall but I wasn't prepared for how small they all are. If Kanami reached five feet tall, I'd be surprised. So having this really tiny girl kicking ass on guitar makes it more amazing. MISA, who looks to be the tallest, is barely much taller than that. A few downsides? I was all the way over on the right so I didn't get the full MISA experience, but I did get a good view of Kanami and Saiki. Also, there was this drunk guy screaming "You rock!" right next to me over and over the whole show. Look, I know they rock. Most of the people in the audience know they rock. They probably know they rock. So you don't have to keep screaming what everybody already knows. At a little less than two hours, I would've wanted more. Maybe four or five hours and about fifty or sixty songs, but that's me. All in all, the audience seemed to have a good time and the girls seemed to enjoy it also. Edit: They did perform "Endless Story" and I have to admit I really didn't care for the official video. Playing it live, it seems they gave it a harder edge and it made it a much, much better song.
Glad you had a great experience. Yes they really are more beautiful in person. Its weird how some people photograph better than others. Don't be too upset about the gift thing. There was probably a big box for gifts that you didn't notice. There are several reasons for doing it that way. It stops the crayzies from saying "Here is a bucket of my blood. I hope you like it!" and it keeps the line moving.
@@brianallan2408 Thanks for the info. I figured it might be to spare them embarrassment from awkward gifts, like the one you mentioned. Yes, we had to hand over the gifts which were put in a box. Although, being a lifelong New Yorker, I can't help being suspicious that the gifts, incidentally different style NY Yankee caps, might not make it to those it was intended. Hopefully, they'll get to them and one day I might see one of them wearing one on Instagram.
Thanks, for taking the time to pass on the great review. Appreciated (shame, about the drunk dude. -I'd also rather listen to them than some drunk dude in the crowd).
It isn't so much that Miku is getting better and better, although she is, it's that Kanami has gradually written and re-written tracks to include an independent rhythm guitar. Miku has had the ability for some time. It has just taken Kanami a while to compose Miku's parts separate from her own. You'll being seeing more of Miku stepping up to the plate.
Miku has definitely gotten better and is showing more confidence in her playing. Double thumbs up. You really have to admire Miku for making the effort to become a better musician. It's paying off mainly because she has three great musicians in this band. Long Live Band-Maid!
Miku is practicing the guitar a lot. On Band-Maid Prime she has posted a lot of self covers, you can tell from the videos that she has been practicing hard. She is getting better all the time and have made her mark in the overall Band-Maid sound, this let's Kanami shred like crazy knowing Miku is holding everything together. I love the comment that while Kanami is shredding, Miku is pulverizing, that is a good one. Her guitar playing on Black Hole live is full blown heavy metal IMHO. Keep rocing Miku.
Of ALL the BAND-MAID music videos (official or otherwise) this is the one I watch the most! Not sure if it's one thousand times but I'm trying to get there! Of course it could be two.
'Don't Be Long' is Kanami's most complex and intense instrumental composition yet...there is 'so much' here you gotta view this several times to 'get the message' ......the most noticeable difference from previous instrumentals is the minimal duration of individual instrument solos....Don't Be Long is quite 'compact' with all instruments in constant performance...watch Kanami at 2:00 to 2:13 ...she is totally immersed within the music, eyes closed...at 2:13 Kanami sends out her final note with her signature arm flourish and steps away to the back of the stage indicating 'I'm done here'...and this is where Misa's bass solo, brief but GENIUS lets everyone know 'This ain't over folks!' ..an absolutely fitting 'polar opposite' bass solo of Misa's creation..and at 2:17 Miku's perfect single chord accenting Misa's solo......guaranteed Kanami made sure Don't Be Long was rehearsed to perfection before being performed live at a Serving .....during an interview Kanami revealed that she sends her lead guitar compositions to Akane and Misa...they compose their responses from what Kanami has sent and return what they have composed back to Kanami....Don't Be Long was created without anyone 'jamming' together so Misa and Akane's compositions are purely theirs ....after the completion of the instrumental Kanami has everyone rehearse together in the studio... ....po-> Miku 'n Zemaitis were made to be together
What a stroke of genius when Akane told Miku "You're not the lead singer anymore so you need to learn to play guitar". Miku is a great rhythm guitar player, love the way she slashes the chords out of that Zematis and with that incredible bass/drum combo just creates this awesome wall of sound for Kanami to dance her fingers around on. And then out walks the Queen of Japan with microphone in hand......
It must have been an initial struggle for her and she had to reorientate herself and how she has seen her self all those years. She has literally levelled up as a musician in BAND-MAID.
Its eventually hard for her at the beginning.. She used to skip practice because she find it so hard to play guitar. Thats why fans really appreciate and respect the pigeon-po more
#Band-Maid One of my favorite things about these Maids is when the go off on these instrumental journeys. It's clear they are very, very talented Maids!
Thanks for sharing this video with the rest of us that could not go. Yes I also think that Miku is starting to improve in every performance. But look at the three killer musicians next to her. Miku is really keeping up with them. Misa and Akane are kicking ass as usual. Got to love this band.
Yes! Miku's getting better at both guitar and singing. And I think it's reflected in the show: it sounded like they're miking her a lot louder than they did last year at San Francisco.
Kuruppo to you. Miku has improved a lot with her guitar playing when you compare with earlier fan cam recordings. She is probably in pain for wearing those high heels.
This makes me want to go to a Band-Maid show so bad... Sadly I just discovered them myself a bout 10 days ago, but it's like all I have listened to since.
One of the best "fan cam" videos I have seen. The fun these ladies have playing is infectious! It sure makes me want to see them live even more than I did before. Thank you for uploading and sharing this.
I hope they are still doing concerts after COVID-19 clears up. I found them thanks to COVID now I want to see them live just once and not on a screen. Instant fanboy.
@@Puyax01 a phoenix would be such an apt final form for her, given her previous history as a member in the idol group Lil Cumin, which failed. From the ashes of that group she rises anew with Band-Maid.
Alright, it’s official- Miku is a badass! She’s nice and forward in the mix and putting all the teeth in this song! Mincho shreds, Miku pulverizes.💪🏻🤘🏻
Oh man, thanks for uploading this great video, Miku's best live performance in every way! There was another great one, live version of Rinne which has been removed from YT for some reason. Keep up with good work girls, we appreciate it, we love you all!
I think they are going to start turning the sound up on miku. She deserves it of course but it's going to be a new and better sound and one day she will do a solo and whoever is there will go nuts.
@@fastskipper777 Thay is very true yes! I think they could carry a whole film.. They need to work with Makoto Shinkai.. their style would compliment his wonderfully.
