They did an online live performance yesterday and it was a blast. Misa was walking around drinking Asahi beer 😂 it was a really fun show. Btw, Miku does have songs where she's doing the lead vocals. My personal favourite is Time. Then there's Rock in Me and Beauty and the Beast as well 💖

The one who acts as the taskmaster and keeps everyone in line for rehearsals etc, is actually the lead guitarist Kanami, the one who appears the most shy and awkward in their interviews. It might have to do with her being the main songwriter and arranger. There are some behind the scenes clips from this same concert where they show their practice session and they also introduce the instruments they use and stuff.
from an interview.. for one of their first meetings, it was maybe Saiki and MISA that showed up late, and Kanami was almost in tears.. cried for them to never be late again, which i guess, they haven't been. seems like she's the sort of person you just don't want to upset.. coz you'd feel absolutely terrible if you did.
It's easy to think that about Misa because she's definitly badass looking. But she's actually a sweet girl, both shy and goofy. The real commanding tower during rehearsals is Kanami. And the most physically abusive (especially towards the poor Miku) is Saiki! Akane is the BFF of everybody and Miku is the guide, the spokespigeon and Saiki's eternal victim (their dialogues are hilarious).
@@lakenneth374 It's old, dating from the beginning of the band (you can see her talk about that in some early interviews) but it was more about organizing things (like rehearsals) because they're all so messy. But later she said she hadn't been long in charge. Don't trust Google to much for acurate infos, read their interviews.
Absolutely! On the behind the scenes footage on the DVD, it's remarkable to see the normally shy Kanami become the dominant force during band rehearsal.
Kanami is actually the one keep the band in control. A funny story about them: Miku, Misa and Saiki used to be late when they have a meeting, Kanami didn't mind too much but on other day they were 30 minutes( or more) late and Kanami got really angry, she cried and said " please ... never be late again T_T", they dont want to hurt their princess anymore so they've been on time since there :)) .
Akane is the most outgoing and appears to have friends everywhere. In some of the music videos they make visual jokes about her eating, particularly in the two Band Maiko mv’s.
There use to be a live version of this song from their Zepp show where Miku got to shine 2x on lead vocals. Once at same spot as this version and then towards the end Saiki goes a bit into the audience to sing, she gets kidnapped by that audience so Miku had to bring it home on vocals. Though that version didn't have the kick ass drum solo by Akane.
I heard Misa takes at least 1 shot of Jim Beam before she goes on stage, in some of these live videos you an actually see the bottle sitting on her amp behind her so I basically spent this entire video trying to see if it was there.

Misa's drinks are always on top of her orange amp. Rechecked the original vid and at 3:35/3:36 you can see it behind kanami during a closeup of hers. A can of beer (asahi probably) and a small jim beam bottle. 😉
Actully Misa is quite shy. Miku and Saiki are the ones who "defend" and take care the others. Akane is the most organized and "normal", while Kanami is the bohemian creative soul but the true "boss" in rehearsal or composition time.
I swear Akane is the spirit child of Animal the drummer of Electric Mayhem! All that musical violence done with a big smile on her lips. She's perfect!
OK, I have been singing and making blues and rock music for money since 1966...and these girls kick more ass than any band I have ever seen. Musicianship coupled with showmanship coupled with talent coupled with hard work and perseverance. I'm ready to put these 5 ladies in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame now...and I mean, RIGHT NOW!

Your P.R.S. is pretty dope. I would've gone with the standard P.R.S. trem over the Floyd Rose, personally. I would have to say that Kanami's guitar is a. artist package as opposed to a core line. So hers is going to have some attributes that are better than yours or mine.

There's nothing wrong with Core models as they are the primary models of the company! The Artist models are above that, then Private Stock (Holy Grail P.R.S.).

@@dicodec They changed their website on April 1st 2018, brought out the Secret Maiko Lips video, and told fans they were going a change of image and sound. It's common for fans to try to trick reactors into thinking Band-Maiko is a cover band doing "their own version" of the song, but unfortunately you always get some "know-all" steaming in, 'informing' everyone that actually they are the same band. As said, see "Secret My Lips" first, so you can appreciate the changes. The song also features the best Saiki/Miku harmonies in their catalogue.

According to Saiki and Miku in an interview: when they were preparing for this album, the girls wrote several songs but their record company rejected all of them except for "Alone". The record company however let Miku and Saiki wrote the lyrics for a few songs. Miku got to write the lyrics and raps for this song.
@@dicodec Just to clarify, this is not the case for their last three LPs where they have handle both music and lyrics themselves. It just shows how much they had to fight to get the record company trust them.
You're talking about 'Brand New Maid', which came out in 2016. A year later, with the 'Just Bring It' album, they were responsible for the majority of the tracks, and Miku contributed lyrics to everything except for 'OOPArts' and 'So, What?'. The rest of the lyrics were all Miku, or Miku/Saiki.
@@dicodec MISA's best friend (and drinking buddy) outside the band is Ainyan, bassist for Silent Siren. But, actually, both MISA and Akane suffered through being in the backup band for the lame-ass J-Pop failure, Becky. MISA is actually quite shy...she spends her spare time with her good friend, Jim Beam. LOL

If you understand japanese, you will realize that band-maid songs are easily to grasp the meaning of its lyrics, but very difficult to sing. If you want to her more Miku singing lead, look for Rock in Me. They don't have a video on their RU-vid, but you can find a live version from their first dvd that someone uploaded, that has good quality sound as long as the video hasn't been taken down. Plus you get a little interaction from Miku with the audience and the band between songs
They are just SOOO Good! Love Band-Maid. Another band you may like that has a lot of cross-over fans with Band-Maid is a band called The Warning. They are 3 teenage sisters from Mexico and they are Amazing!! Do yourselves a favor and check them out!

Teens doing a Concept Album!! It is a masterpiece and I am a picky old school Rocker. They also have a Spanish Single out, that kicks ass, and a 3rd album on the way this year, and the oldest sister just turned 20! Do any song off Queen of the Murder Scene, and you won't be disappointed. There is not one bad song in their entire catalog. BTW, they've already played most of the major festivals in Latin America, and opened for Def Leppard and the Killers twice each, and played The Whiskey-a-go-go 4 times, 3 times headlining and sold out.

Miku Kobato, his not her real name by the way, it means "little pigeon" and she finish all her phrases by "po" or "kurrupo", the "coo" in english. it's the same thing for her name in "band maiko", it's mean something about piegon too. and the nickname of Akane is "A-chan"

@@dicodec BTW, Kanami is seen by her band-mates as a "natural airhead"...and a musical genius. Remember, guitar is not her first instrument...she's only been playing guitar for about 8 years. she started as a pianist. Also, both MISA and Akane started out as brass players...yes, Akane plays a mean trombone. Miku worked in a maid cafe for three years and was cut by her original label and management group (Amuse). So, how would you like to be known as the producer who threw BAND-MAID in the bin...kind of like the guy who said that guitar music was dead after turning down The Beatles. Miku writes the lyrics and Kanami writes the music...kind of a Japanese Lennon/McCartney. One day, they will be in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. All five girls have endorsement deals...Kanami (PRS), Akane (TAMA), MISA (Orange), Saiki (Sennheiser), and Miku (Zemaitis). That little pigeon (po) put together one hell of a band.
Misa is the name of a leading porn star in Japan. There are a million Misa in Japan. There is only one MISA. And that is the reason she stylizes her name in all caps. Miku: The one that always goof around till it gets to Saiki's nerve, who ends up restraining her most of the time. Akane: The oldest one, keeping the girls in check, yet the fastest to join Miku's shenanigans. Kanami: Spartan of the practice room. Alongside Akane, she's commanding the flow of the practice. Saiki: The youngest one. It's amazing that even with her ice empress aura, Miku isn't afraid to mess with her. Misa: The chillest one. Casually sits in the back watching all the stuff above.
There's another live version where Miku sings a bit more and I've seen son fan recorded videos of Miku having to step up as lead singer due to malfuctions in Saiki's microphone. So she's always ready to fill in if needed and it's a nice change of pace when you're already used to the songs sounding a certain way.
In the zepp tokyo live version of freedom, saiki got lost during crowd interaction and miku had to step in to finish the song. Saiki returned shortly after but without her shoes. They were lost in the audience. 😅🤘
