The breakdown is the sound made when a HUGE bulldozer hits a three engine locomotive head-on, then Kanami sets the wreckage on fire with her blistering solo. The MAIDS emerge from out of the still burning pile of twisted, scorched metal and invite us all over for a sing-a-long around the conflagration. They brought marshmallows! Thanks mucho Ryan!
I'm an old rocker and that drop really takes me back to early Black Sabbath! Band-Maids ability to have great driving rock songs with a catchy sing along is quite unique.
I had the same thoughts about Kanami, she doesn’t remind me of any other guitarist, then to find out she’s the composer of the band!! Dude, her music skills are nothing short of being genius!!
Maybe i’ve never thought about it before but I can’t think of another guitar player who so relentlessly does interesting, and diverse, work throughout entire songs. If you pay attention she is ALWAYS playing something cool, and hardly ever stops, even when she’s way back in the mix so others can shine. She’s still there, doing something great.
She is so much more than just writing the music to Miku's lyrics. Kanami is responsible for the synth, piano, backing tracks, loopers, you name it. Kanamincho is also the band's de facto producer with other band members making demos for her to formulate into the songs you hear on CD. Amazing lady of many talents. Sacramento loves Mincho.
I so want to experience this song live! Just Bring it was the first album they had (almost?) total creative control over. They purposely incorporated such singalongs so that non-Japanese speaking fans could participate in their live concerts. How can you not love them?
*Ryan Mear* you got 70 notification on your RU-vid channel probably a lot more after this post. 🆗 When this song ended I heard the intro to *Puzzle* another great song of *BAND-MAID* Time to throw in the *DICE* and play some *BAND-MAID / DICE*
This song still gives me full body chills even after listening to over 100x times already. One of my favorite Band-Maid songs. MISA's bass line in this song and this version specifically is so fucking THICCCCCCC. Yeah, this song is undeniably Band-Maid. They've done such an amazing job of cultivating their own sound. Miku, in a recent interview, stated that one of her main goals is to create a genre of music called Band-Maid. She and the band don't want to be put into any other category but their own. They've done an amazing job so far of accomplishing that. :)
I’ve always been impressed on how they bring in so many different influences in their songs yet keep their signature sound and keep it catchy. They are just next level.
Aaah Moratorium :) Off the Zepp DVD. Can't go wrong with that show's set. Everything on that DVD is pure gold. That DVD also has acoustic versions of 2 songs. Anemone and Puzzle. I actually play Anemone with Kelly, my duet partner all the time.. I love those 2 songs.
Yet another Band maid favorite... They have so many great songs.. Can't get enough... :) Another great reaction Ryan thanks for sharing.. Best wishes from France..
Exactly, this is as close to "showing off" as you will see from Band-Maid. So much happening in one song and it is a "live" performance. Just sheer genius in composition and execution, Band-Maid "IS" a genre.. Po!
A song from a band-made legendary live performance. If you know the lyrics written by Miku, you will love it more. Google Translate of Japanese lyrics. Song: BAND-MAID Lyrics: Miku Kobato Composition: BAND-MAID I don't know. I don't get it. Excuse me just because of the person Place to Place anywhere Repeat the same diction I say I'm an adult Where is the borderline? Control yourself Endured Don't dilly-dally. Alone There is no time to spare What I saw that day Cut open even if wrong You have to make up your mind. Confused answer Hide For all that still I cheated so as not to lose I'm joking. Laugh away If you can do something that wasn't there I wish Don't dilly-dally. Give up Shake off tears Happiness to grab someday Believe and start running Desire, attachment, nobody's eyes Rolling reality and fantasy lost Don't dilly-dally. Alone There is no time to spare What I saw that day Cut open even if wrong Don't dilly-dally. I gave up Shake off tears Happiness to grab someday Believe and start running Don't dilly-dally.
This song to me is a little bit of Motorhead, a little Corrosion of Conformity, a dash of like White Zombie all perfectly constructed and adapted by the most talented musicians to ever occupy the same stage.
BAND-MAID so good, when It rains God's crying to "Puzzle" acoustic. When it's sunny God's smiling to "Freedom" & when a volcano erupts God's watching a whole B-M show :)
Thanks for pointing out about Kanami. Right from the first time I heard her play I knew she had a different approach to her playing. Some credit to Carlos Santana, her guitar idol. And I am glad she doesn't compromise her sound and the way she plays. Bravo Kanami. IMO a very underrated guitarist.
This concert is a flamethrower. Watch Take me higher, Saiki looks like her veins in her neck will explode and Kanami has these funky fuzz solos. The entire show blows me away every time.
The Zepp show is definitely their best concert as far as the mix is concerned. Moratorium is an incredible song. The live version of Puzzle (Not the acoustic) from this show with blow your frickin mind. That was the start of it at the end. Kanami's playing reached all new heights in that one. She goes all out from beginning to end.
😎always on 🔥 Kanami is a riff machine btw and when she's on stage she's not the same Kanami instead of evil Mincho😈..offstage 😇.. onstage😈 while holding her PRS..thanks for the reaction...love it
Love this older Band-Maid! Clean, clear and perfectly balanced so you can hear each instrument. Talent is undeniable! Thank you for reacting to this video. Pigeons will save the world! PO!
So f@#$% good! This song and 'Puzzle' were my introduction to BAND-MAID. Life's been better, more complete ever since then. Thank you BAND-MAID And thanks Ryan for taking me back to the day I found true love. Rock on
If there was an award for most badass use of the phrase "don't dilly-dally" BM would win hands down.... next you should listen to "Puzzle" live from this same show - it immediately follows Moritorium and you can actually hear them leading into it at the end of this video - another one of their best and together with Moritorium provides probably the best 10 minutes of live music you'll ever hear.
Thank you Ryan, love this song. A favorite, this and Puzzle still my favs. Kanami is so incredible. Love her compositions. And the crowd here. Kanami has said Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton are big influences on her. And the beautiful tribute tweet she wrote for Eddie Van Halen, praising his phrasing and tapping, you find he’s a huge influence.
Great reaction. Oh man, you've got to react to the next song that followed in this performance - Puzzle! (It's also on bilibili.) If you like AC/DC, then you'll probably like Puzzle as well (one of the best songs they've written imho). Thank for the Band-Maid reaction - I really enjoyed it. (Also on bilibili, you'll find Awkward from the same live performance - it's a mid-tempo song that I discovered when first encountering the band; it quickly sold me on their incredible creativity - as a band. I think you'd love it.)
This whole show is just killer! After this song they go into Puzzle, one of their true masterpiece songs, I suggest you listen to it next! Also, talking about a band sounding different, but still like themselves, try "About Us". 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
I've made up my mind! More Band Maid! The best use of the term "Dilly Dally", ever! What a break down in this song, a little of everything! Band Maid doing Band Maid things!
Ah yes, the Tiny Hat Era of Band Maid. I remember it well. Don't you tell me it might take me higher or turn me on, I might become cross. Is it an endless story, a puzzle , a play on words, or just fate?
@@rossmudie9298 Sometimes there is a thrill, or maybe a certain freedom with the onset of a time of daydreaming. It can be a little awkward alone, but it will be okay.
@@saikisfang9339 dont you tell me but i wanted to do something different today so i went for a summer drive to visit big dad, he's turned a new page and decided he wants to carry on living and stop screaming at yuragu? 😂 Said he was lokking forward to some order, life was like rolling a dice.
Such intellegent song writing from these women. I know Kanami does the bulk of it but the others contribute too. How can anyone not fall in love with them.
Damn, I just love this song and this performance in particular. Riff monster Kanami totally in her element. 🔥🤘🏻 Rightfully one of the first and most popular recommendations next to 'Domination' & 'Freedom' before it was deleted from YT. And I agree about the mix of the show. For me too, this is the best work of their sound engineers to date. As mentioned by my fellow countryman Michael Port, I also think it's about time for 'Puzzle' in its live version. My personal number 2, very close behind 'Daydreaming'. :) 【 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' - Band-Maid 】🕊️
You've taken Kanami's rule on solo's, keeping us wanting more. I really wish they would re-release these two concert DVD's, they have the best sound of all their concerts.
I bought it off ebay recently, but I’d buy it again off the official website just to support the band. I’d give the extra copy to a friend who needs Band Maid in their life!
This is the song that brought me to BAND MAID. This was on RU-vid 2 years ago. I was looking for something else and accidently fell on this song. I thought I was choosing something else! What is this?!?!?!?!?! I still to this day do not know what song I was trying to get to. If you have this concert you need to do the song Puzzle - the fantastically acoustic version - KANAMI sings! If you have the rock version as well you should do a back to back comparison. Save for the lyrics you would think they are 2 different songs.
BAND-MAID is always great with their uncompromising songwriting and performance. And not only that, their performance makes us very happy every time. And what makes us even happier is that a great reactor like you gives us the opportunity to enjoy their greatness together. Thank you so much, Ryan. Please try "Alone" next time. This is the first song they have written and composed. I was immediately captivated by their talent and Kanami's amazing solo. Also, don't miss "Blooming" (the arrangement is perverse) and "YOLO" (your heart will be kidnapped). All songs are available on the official page.
I was just thinking that it’s not only time for Puzzle, it’s also time for Blooming. Blooming has the advantage of being on their official YT channel, and is top-tier Band Maid. I doubt anyone would argue that.
A great live performance which got the desired response! Yes, I also love the transition from one of their heaviest passages into one of their popiest, complete with synths and gang vocal singalong. A true Band Maid moment.
My favourite Band-Maid song! Thanks for reviewing! If you can find the song Awkward, there are so many really cool riff changes in it. Each one could be it's own song, but of course, that is a Band-Maid trademark po.
When i listen to Kanami i hear all sort of sounds, in this i even got a bit of old black sabbath coming through Megadeath all sorts i do know the Japanese have and use some different scales I'm learning the Hirajoshi scale at the moment Saki from Nemo as well plays from and mix up sounds. Our western rock is generally pentatonic based these girls seem to have a better knowledge of there instruments and how to get unique sounds out of them and mix the best of them together .
@@SteveBalderrama When that breakdown came I thought of Black Sabbath. Not for the riff itself, but the heaviness of it. It brought to mind Heaven and Hell and Sign of the Southern Cross. Heavy and crunchy. Soundgarden drew as much from Black Sabbath as they did Led Zeppelin.
"Sound brutal", the sound is way better than youtube sound... i m glad u found this video. only true BandMaid fan will make effort & find this gem =) Nex song ... is "Puzzle"
Its a bass...its a maid...its MISA !!! 🤟😻 miku's distortion on point as well...tq mr. Ryan 🙏🏿 btw how's your elbow ?? Stay safe n stay healthy everyone
The "A" and Pre-chorus riffs are indicative of "Peace Sells" and "Sweating Bullets". Not really in the note choices or chords, but in overall feel. Minchu is a legit beast of a songwriter. If you're gonna borrow from an idea, borrow from the best. You: How many styles can you put in one song? Minchu: All of them!
@@RyanMear Well "Good Mourning..." is on Peace Sells. But I'm not hearing it. Did you mean the 3:00 mark of "Good Mourning/Black Friday"? The galloping swing bit? Maybe if it (GM/BF) was played more straight, they would sound closer. But I still feel it's closer to Peace Sells. But that's also part of Kanami's brilliance of being able to take influence without being derivative.
MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! thanks for finding there older stuff from the Zepp Concert , if you can fine the song Turn Me On from the same concert its a great one .
Those drums... Akane! 🤘🙂🤘🥁 And how good are these transitions! For something a little different try their song "Wonderland" Live, it's on their channel! Also you gonna have to do "Daydreaming", it's a masterpiece! 🙂
Recently on the Band-Maid reddit page people were asked to list their 5 favorite Band-Maid songs. Out of 90 people who submitted a list, 83 songs were mentioned at least once as a top 5 song for someone. You have already heard the #4, 5, and 10 most mentioned songs. Manners, Moratorium, and Domination. The other most mentioned favorites were 1) Daydreaming 2) Puzzle 3) Blooming 6) anemone 7) secret My lips 8) alone 9 ) Giovanni All except Puzzle have either an MV or audio track on the band's RU-vid channel.
So happy you reacted to this. this was my choice in your recent poll :) now onto Puzzle, Puzzle (acoustic) and Don't you tell ME live . P.S i checked out your album and really enjoyed. many sweet guitar licks and i loved the laid back funky southern rock sounds. I hope everyone else checks it out....parts made me think of Carlos Santana, ZZ top and Lynyrd Skynyrd plus the vocals are great. good album for cruising down the road with the top down ot any other time for that matter. cheers
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 my #2 favorite B-M song. You need to check out the Live version of Don't You Tell Me because of the great "conversation " between Misa and Kanami with Akane keeping those 2 moving along and then Puzzle (electric and acoustic versions) You will not be disappointed. 😉🤙🏼
Just one of my 90 favorite Band-Maid songs! But seriously, when I first heard this I was seriously shook. Even after all the stuff that they've done since, this is monumental. Nice reaction.
Definitely one of my favs from Bandmaid. Puzzle from the same show is killer as well. As NEM said below, it has killer guitar riffs all through the song.
Give Band Maids "Take Me Higher" live a listen next, its a banger!! I watch all my Band Maid reactions from you now, I like your take on these fine ladies.
Love the timing. Hard-rock, metal, grunge...all in one. The second singalong after break-down solo is almost proggy... that's the song that sealed the deal for me.
Kobato's guitar on this one sounds like the end of the world. It's like the whole band just went "well, we have every distortion ever created at our feet, fuck it, let's use it!" even during the pop sounding chorus Saiki is surfing on pure aggression coming from the instruments. This song is so great, I'm glad you found it! During the solo it sounds like Misa is playing on the cables of a suspension bridge. It's scary how thick she sounds!
Since you're watching stuff from bilibili, you need to check out Take Me Higher live, and Don't You Tell Me live. I think they were from the same concert but not sure.
I just today dug up the Zepp show video and was cranking those two on my main media system ( 300 watts old school high current power into big ass Infinitys). It was glorious. Those are two of my favorite BM songs, just great old school rockers.
They play around with so many genre,s ,its what they do,and thats why i love them, try there so called ballad,Daydreaming,,its a masterpiece, keep them coming Ryan, really enjoy your reactions.
Ryan! When they played at small venues overseas Kanami was adding a long and crazy solo, especially the one recorded in Bochum, Germany! I wish she could do the same at big live venues! Collective insanity guaranteed! Let's come together right down here, let's come down together..... I'm 73 and I intend to spend my few years left in their full study and support! I am not a crazy geezer, I am just enjoying myself! Loads of thanks to you as usual, mate! Robert-Gilles
You have to listen to more songs from this concert, it was so good! I'm going to recommend Puzzle (live) from this concert. You can find it on Bilibili. (There's also an acoustic version of Puzzle if you want to do a 2 in 1 reaction, but that's up to you).
I was just thinking to myself, "You know who would like this song? Gary Holloway. Maybe Dave and Curtis and Uncle C, hell, even Xagor. Yep, could be wrong, it's just a guess, but I bet they'll like it.
