One of two all English lyric songs. Producer Tony Visconti(most notably of David Bowie) along with Thomas Kenney(sound engineer/songwriter, B-M fan and introduced Tony to their music) contacted B-M and their label and requested a chance to produce a song. The band recorded the instrumentals and sent them to Tony, while Miku and Saiki flew to NY to do vocals. Kenney wrote the lyrics. Very few changes were done the Kanami's arrangement and those that were done, Visconti respectfully asked for permission first. He was impressed by the stamina and professionalism of Saiki and Miku. This is probably the most "American",style-wise, of their songs.
This could have come straight outta the late 60's/early 70's protest movements. To me, it screams Jimi Hendrix with a touch of The Doors. This band is timeless. Thanks GMG! 🕊
Miku and Saiki enjoyed working with Tony Visconti, as he did working with him. He said they went 8 hrs straight and they never faltered. Saiki said one thing different from Japan, with Visconti was he had them only re-sing the parts changed. In Japan they re-sing the entire song. Miku said she explored NYC using the subway wearing her twin tails. Everybody thought she was much younger than she is and very nice to her!! FYI this was 2019. How would you react to finding Miku Kaboto in a subway car? Me, I would be speechless. Visconti attended both of their concerts in NYC. One was added due to ticket demand. Reading the ticket demand for the October tour is such that larger venues may be needed. The main stream in the US has no idea how big the fan base for Band Maid and other Japanese bands. Such as Lovebites and Nemophila.
It'd be amazing to run into ANY of them anywhere! Maybe one day they'll put on the ultimate Japanese Band festival and they can ALL tour and play together in one show!
If someone asked Band Maid to do a Country song it would be a great Country song… there’s nothing they can’t do to a high level if they decide to do it. I love all flavors of Band Maid but I would love to hear them do a whole album like this!
I knew Misa liked the blues by the Jimi Hendrix sticker she had on her older bass ! Band-Maid is so talented they could play anything and it would sound good ! "Real Existence" Live is another great sounding song =) ✌🤘
@@Bekka_Noyb There's a long radio interview by Chris Peppler where MISA mentions that her mother played a lot of classic rock in the house when she was growing up; the Who and "JimiHen" - when they put on "Crosstown Traffic" as the background music she perks up and says "Oh this reminds me of my childhood." As a teenager she liked "Red Chili" (RHCP) and some of the grunge and alt bands, but you can tell where her roots are. Hats off to MISA's mom for giving her daughter a quality music education.
That pretty snake is the crying dragon come on now great song its in my top 20 of band maid ,moratorium live not alot of reactors do this one but it's hard rock
Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece. One of my favorite solo from Bandmaid. If you like this song, try Bubble and Manners, both has similar vibe and fantastic songs.
It's great to see a young female rock band singing about the future of the planet now during the Ukrainian war. And Cluppo sings that love and peace will save the planet.
I've always loved bands that deal with social, political & environmental aspects of what we call humanity. For that reason, this is one of my favorite songs from the Maids. Unfortunately, although bands have been portraying this message since the 60's, "Humanity" just can't seem to fix the problems.
Definitly not the least loved song (leave that to Start Over - that I love though), but the most controversial. Largely because too many people saw a "political" statement in the video, where there's only a finding about the state of the world. Also, musically uneducated people thought that working with famous producer Tony Visconti (Bowie, Thin Lizzy, T rex ... ) was an attempt to "americanize" the band (it was in fact a very genuine act from Mr Visconti, out of admiration for the band!). All that sillyness shouldn't detract us from recognising this song as a really great bluesy rock gem.
Dragons, a poignant commentary of the sad, self-inflicted current state of the world, is a great plunge into the bluesy rock style given to us by Hendrix and others. Heard live (and without the overly compressed mix), the song jumps from the souls of the members and into our minds as a warning. Let's all heed that warning and support our home planet!
Nice reaction. I love the composition and arrangement of the song, no need to mention about the solos. To be honest I'm still struggling to digest the lyrics and the video. I do respect the Maids' decision to put this song out as a part of their catalogue. With that being said, still can't get over my personal feelings that shadows of some "adults" in the music industry trying to take advantage over the Maids to put out their "message" and that's what turns me off. Yeah, I know it's what it is..
I think they have enough self respect to politely decline any message that is disagreeable with them. They don't strike me as people who are so easily swayed by others. It's upsetting to see how some of us seem to view them this way--like damsels in distress. Have they not sufficiently demonstrated their independence and their ability to self-govern? What allows us to think that they are so powerless? It's a demeaning thought.
@@WhatisaLee As I CLEARY stated, I do respect the decision of the maids to put this song out and I said I like it. I just expressed my PERSONAL FEELINGS since I truely adore their forward looking and uplifting messages.
@@slcm529 Understood. I was very careful to refer to 'us' because I didn't want to direct my comment at you specifically. If I'm going to generalize a group as I did here, I have to belong to it and I will include myself in it.
I like the song, very groovy, very American sounding, just not the video! I know the planet is messed up, but I don't really listen to music to get that, music is an escape, or should be, imho. There is a live version from the Feb 14th, 2020 concert that is really better, as is not unusual for these ladies! Cool to see the collaboration between Tony and the ladies! MISA and Akane really drive this song, great Mincho guitar work and awesome vocals! Like I said, I have liked the song since I first heard it!
