Michael Cudlitz is an American actor known for portraying John Cooper in the NBC/TNT drama series 'Southland', and Sergeant Abraham Ford in the AMC horror series 'The Walking Dead'.
However his breakout role came in 2001 with his portrayal of Sgt. Denver "Bull" Randleman in the epic World War II miniseries, 'Band of Brothers'. Cudlitz joined an ensemble cast portraying the men of "Easy" Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division as they fought their way across Europe from Normandy to the Eagle's Nest.
Cudlitz takes us on a behind the scenes journey from first hearing about the role, to the actors 'boot camp' and production, and ultimately ending on why the series still resonates with audiences 23 years later.

My Uncle was in the 82nd Airborne in D-Day, the Bulge and through to the end of the war. Thank you for doing great justice to what those men experienced on film so we can even more greatly appreciate the incredible sacrifices they made and how truly brave those men were.

Theyre mentioned at least twice in the film. I specifically remember guarnere mentioning shortly after D-day “those 82nd boys are giving em hell”. While its about the 101st the legendary 82nd still had voluntary parachute infantry ready to go to war as much as the “screaming eagle” 101st. We were never short of heroes thanks to people like your uncle

My grandfather never saw the series but I feel like he probably would have watched it alone and probably cried the whole time…it didn’t happen that often but sometimes his nightmares woke him screaming. He told me stories and my grandmother asked me not to ask for one. When he died she showed me his medals for valor and 2 Purple Hearts. He never would have and couldn’t talk about it at all

@@finddeniro the only medal that he gave me before he died was not his medal, it was a German soldier’s with the swastika on it. He told me I’m giving you this to remind you to never wear a symbol of hate. I asked my grandmother about it, he told her a story that haunted him all his life…that was the first person he ever had to kill and it was face to face. He kept the swastika pendant he wore to remind him of that life changing moment. That is what my grandmother said

My Great Uncle George saw BoB before he passed. EVERY episode was emotional for him as he served with the 101st in WWII. God bless all our troops, past present and future!

There are no words or videos that could ever accurately even attempt to explain what it was like to live through the victories and horrors of that war. But this the best effort I’ve ever had the privilege to watch. Thank you to all the men who served and to all the people that made this show a reality.

Thank you so very much for portraying this fine men as you did. I’m an old Paratrooper who was blessed to learn from this men. We younger men would tell them Thank You for your bravery, dedication to duty, the fighting spirit that you demonstrated has lasted longer than you know. I’m proud to call myself a Paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division.

Band of Brothers was simply the best series out there, I own the series and I periodically binge watch it. Kudos to all the actors, for bringing these Heroes back to life, for all to recognize their service & sacrifice they gave during WWII. My uncle served in the Blackhawk Div in the army & was awarded the bronze Star for his role in the battle of the Ruhr pocket. My uncle survived WWII and actually died younger than I am now, in 1978 when he suffered a heart attack in a hardware store, sure wish his Band of Brothers were there to help him, I feel if they were he would have survived. As he was being laid to rest, it started to snow and that turned into the Blizzard of 78 that hit the NE Coast. I was 19 then, I also had another uncle's who served one in the Pacific, two more uncles served in Korea, and a married in Uncle, who served in Vietnam. All my uncles survived their experiences of war. And became legends and Heroes to me growing up, and through these 5 men in my life, I learned to respect & honor all veterans. Sadly they have all moved up to greener pastures. But they'll never leave my heart & mind. As for actors portraying men like these, I give them all the respect of keeping our war time heroes alive, for all to learn from. Thank you actors for playing your part in one of the most respectful war time series ever. BAND OF BROTHERS. I salute all who made the series possible. 🫡 🇺🇸

My dad was a peacetime U.S. marine and we watched the entire series together before he died. He loved this series and I instantly became a fan, too. A cherished memory I carry to this day. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It's the best tv I have ever seen in my life . I was 18 when I saw it , deployed twice after that and then I really appreciated the accurate description of the Brotherhood you only find in combat. I can only watch it in clips now , but slowly getting to place in where I can submit myself to a whole episode again.

I have literally lost count of how many times I’ve seen Band of Brothers. They nailed it. I don’t know any WWII vets anymore but I did know a few Korean vets and they were amazed. This series never gets old. And god help me if it’s on tv and I have somewhere to be even knowing I own a copy of it lol

I remember when I first started loving this series. I was a young kid (probably 9 - 10 years old) and my mom took me to my local county library and there were movies like documentaries films and the one that stuck out to me was episode 7 and 8 of Band of Brothers. So we rented them and I watched it on our old vcr player. That was the best day of my life

My Grandfather wasn’t in the 101st but his company C Company 51st Armored and Infantry battalion 4th armored shared the battle grounds in Northern France and Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest. My Grandfather Technical Sergeant William Timer received 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts in combat. I am forever proud of him and wish I could have met him personally. He died of lung cancer before I was born. He didn’t even smoke. But the smoke and soot of war fumes and fires took his lungs in time.

Band Of Brothers was a cinematic masterpiece. I was riveted to it and it was meaningful to me in a deep way in addition to just my appreciation of the generation of men represented by this film. My father was one of the Soldiers in the Second World War and I grew up in the shadow of what that time in that war did to him. He was a great man strapped and bonded down to that 4 years he spent in Europe and North Africa. It was so much a part of him that it was a part of me vicariously through him. I never saw that man at peace. I hope and pray he finally found his peace when he was taken home in 1988. Thank you for this film. I loved it and how it helped me identify in a personal way with what I saw in my Father.

My grandpa was there with Patton when they broke through to help them. He said the the show did a good job of portraying them is not needing help, but that didn’t stop them from actually thanking them and helping them relax a little bit.

Nailed it alright!! Had such a profound effect on this old hippie that it completely changed my attitude towards the Americans, and even went to Europe in 2013 and followed the trail from Normandy all the way to Berchtesgaden. “Pacific” affected me even more as I hadn’t really thought before about the dreadful conditions the boys fought in. Wonderful acting in both series! Having a little trouble warming to the actors in Masters of the Air unfortunately but still another fine production!! 👍🏽🇦🇺❤️

My father was a WW2 veteran who fought in Europe. I remember when this first came out, I was so captured by each episode that I immediately bought the DVD box set when they came out. Once the blu-ray set came available, I upgraded. I watch the series once a year and it never gets old. As a retired army veteran myself, I salute the greatest generation. 🇺🇸

I had a partner who’s dad was in Easy Company and lost his arm in Bastogne. He told the doc to get his watch from his missing arm and it always reminded me of pulp fiction and the watch.
