The Band of the Grenadier Guards providing musical support for Changing the Guard in Windsor on 1 February 2024.
0:00 The band emerging from the barracks and marching up Sheet Street and round into the High Street on their way to Windsor Castle, leading the New Guard, playing "Children of the Regiment (Die Regimentskinder)" (Julius Fucik) and then "To Your Guard" (W.T.Hughes).
3:10 The band marching up Castle Hill and entering the castle, leading the New Guard, playing "The Mareth Line" (A.W.Brown).
4:34 The band marching back down Windsor High Street and round into Sheet Street, leading the Old Guard, playing "With Sword and Lance" (Hermann Starke) and then "Aces High", also known as the Luftwaffe March (Ron Goodwin).

Spiffing Sir! Hope you're keeping well and warm over there! Some wonderful marches today. No large crowds either.

Hi Delvin. Thanks, and great to hear from you! It's still a bit cool in the wind, but not down near freezing. I agree - there have been some excellent marches this week - both today, and on Tuesday. The band has been sounding superb in my opinion - 2 bass trombones on each day has been very enjoyable!

OMG!! Will you Listen to the Bass Trombones Coming up Sheet St & on the High St!! Absolutely Superb!! To your Guard has got a Great Trombone part anyway, but when it's played by the 2 Grenadier Bass Trombones it's just Awesome! The Drum Sargent, Grenadier Guards, leading the Band is doing a Fine Job. Hopefully I'll have his name shortly, because the good job he's doing means he'll be getting his Baldric before too long & going on the DM Roster. The March List for today is Great, a little bit of something for everyone, including the Movie Buffs with "Aces High" aka The Luftwaffe March from the Battle of Britain Movie. The Beginning of that March sounds Different to what I've heard the other Bands play, I'm wondering if it's in a lower Key or if they've Slowed it down a Touch., not that it matters it still sounds Good. I suspect the New Guard was from the Grenadier Guards or the Welsh Guards, those are the only 2 Regiments with Plumes on the Left side of their Bearskins, there's no plumes on the right side of the Bearskins. The Duty Officer & NCO's are The Welsh Guards & the Old Guard is Grenadier Guards. Looks like a Nice fine Sunny day Mike, though looking at peoples clothes it could be a bit Chilly. I'd gladly Swap for some Chilly, we've had a week of 28-30deg C here. Hope the Train Journey wasn't too Traumatic. This is another Great Video Mike, some excellent Footage & the sound was Great! He is a LSgt, Welsh Guards and yes doing a great job.

Thanks for info. Question? Ref the DM , what’s his “Baldric”? Great post. Can’t play an instrument or read music, but listening /watching these posts I can fantasise! 👍👍👍👍👍 best wishes from Cornwall

@@doraldeddy1836 Hello! The Baldric is the Sash that Goes Left Shoulder Diagonally to the Right across the Chest. They aren't actually Visible when the DM is wearing Winter Uniform of Athol Grey Greatcoat, however they are easy Spotted when the DM is wearing Their Summer Red Tunic DM Uniform & Of course easily Spotted when they are in State Dress. The Baldric is very Ornately Embroidered, made of the finest woollen felt and embroidered with bullion wire and silk threads. It's part of the honours of the Regiment. Its design may incorporate royal honours, regimental insignia or battle honours. So For Example A DM from the Irish Guards Wears a Blue Plume on the Right Side of his Bearskin, His Baldric will carry the Royal Cipher of King Charles lll or whoever the Sitting Monarch is, The Regimental Crest & Motto & certain Battle Honours. It is in effect similar to The Regiments Colour, being a Proud Display of the Regiments History if you like. I hope this helps, Cheers! There are also the 2 Regiments of the Household Cavalry, but they don't have a Baldric. There are even "Open Days" at Wellington Barracks in London, to have a look at Bands. @@sampotts3416 Hello! Are you The Sam Potts? The Wonderful most Energetic DM in the Household Divn. (if not the British Army) ? If you are then ofcourse you know what you're talking about far better than I do, but perhaps there are 2 Drum Sargents in Training? This one has a Grenadier Guards Plume on his Bearskin. Admittedly, it's one of those Thin White Plumes the Grenadier Guards Wear & not too easy to see but it's certainly not one of The Welsh Guards Plumes, those are very easy to see & I like the New Shade of Green. His Sleeve has three Chevrons, instead of the 4 & Drum of the DMs. If I've got it wrong I apologise, I'm just going on what I see. I'd be rather Stupid to argue with you, that's why I'm wondering if there are 2 Drum Sargents in training.

Yes I am indeed. Thankyou very much. He is definitely Welsh Guards, he is one of two LSgt’s, who you will be seeing more of. He just has a very tightly wrapped plume and a well groomed bearskin. Only WO’s and above have the “feathery” plume.
