This was another outstanding song by Polyphia. They just keep coming up with new ways to blow your mind. I LOVE how the video is serious, but also SO NOT serious. Like, how Lil West can come out dressed like some Victorian demon vampire elf and still go HARD. And its totally fine. They didn't have to do any silly posturing, like shooting him in a club, in slow motion, throwing money around to make you take him seriously. This whole new Polyphia album is just a crazy mix tape of genre mish-mashes with anyone and everyone they felt like making some fun noises with. It's a great time.

Only way i can explain polyphia is "music for musicians." I love watching your takes because even after watching, listening, and analyzing their music over and over, you point out something i didn't notice through the organized rhythmic chaos these guys masterfully craft beautifully each song.

Able to pick out all the cool little intricacies most people would only notice subconsciously, such as the high hats matching up with lil west’s vocal melody. Great reaction. Highly recommend you listen to Polyphia - The Audacity, next. It is the most musically impressive song on the album, imo - it has straight up jazz with potentially the best bass clay has ever recorded. hi! I noticed the basses in the background. Do you have any tips for learning by ear? I played the last 10 years by tablature and starting jamming with my friends and didn't realize how much they stunted my growth. I've been working on scales but I wanna be able to do key changes and it's embarrassing to have to spend 5-10 seconds finding the root note
@bobcieslinski
@bobcieslinski Год назад
From what you are telling me you are doing the right thing working on your scales. Finding the root notes is a good thing too. There are basic chord patterns to follow with thr songs you are learning too. Some use a 1-4-5. Those would be the first fourth and fifth notes of thr key the song is in. Sometimes a 2-5-1 and also a 1-5-6-4 sonetime a 2 is thrown in also. As far as playing by ear it takes awhile to train your ear but thr more playing you do the better you can hear the sounds. I still practice this when I am learning a pop song on thr bass. I’ll play it and try to find the root notes of thr song. Once I start to find one then I know the chord progressions and it’s easier figuring out what comes next to create the sequence. The more you do this and learn it thr easier it all gets. I hope this was helpful. If you have any other questions just let me know.

@@bobcieslinski thank you so much for your response. I think I'm just very impatient when it comes to developing hearing Because I'm at a point where I can learn most songs by tabs through repetition and now that I have to apply critical thinking to decipher the notes it is not as quick. I will definitely try out the notes with some backing tracks to build that fundamental. Also you should react to chivalry is not dead by hiatus kaiyote it is a great song but it is nothing like polyphia. Thanks again you have earned a sub through me

I’d seriously listen to so much more rap if it had background musicality like polyphia. It’s just never been a style I can really get into because of the constrained simplicity of the genre. Not to say there no good rappers because that’s an insane statement, but just personally, I really love complexity in music, and rap rarely hits that for me. I’d listen to it all if it had bands like polyphia doing the instrumentation rather than a couple programs and a looped beat.

More like... If only people understood that a voice is a musical instrument, and running it through filters is a perfectly legitimate way to make music. But, you know, you are welcomed to keep misunderstanding stuff. You do you.
@matthieusavary983
@matthieusavary983 Год назад
I mostly agree to this comment. Autotune and layerings have become less a stylistic choice than a brainless gimmick in the musical industry. You hardly ever find, these days, a rap track without the same kind of tone correction. It's was fun to explorate 10 years ago, but now it's just that kind of "entry ticket" to reach the mainstream productionn, and avoid originality at all cost. I won't stay Lil West is no talent, but, at least, I don't see any art in this. And while Polyphia makes everything fresh and talentuous, Lil West seems to be a random addition there (not good, not bad, just meh).
