I didn't think much of this figure when it first came out... 2 years later, I think I must own this one. grew up with the original anime and this one looks the closest to what I remember watching as a kid. I think it's beautiful!
The Dark eyes are actually meant to display Mazinger in his off/non Pilder mode. If you watch the anime you can see the eyes only glow yellow when the Pilder is on which signifies Mazinger being fully operational. Thanks for another great review. I've had mine for almost 2 months now and pretty happy with this version.
Mazinger Z was the mecha anime that really put the genre on the map. It was so successful it had multiple spin offs. Design wise, the Great Mazinger is my fave variant.
It very good toy. I got that figure two weeks ago, and I love it. I bought the GX-73 Great Manzinger and GX-74 Getter 1 too but those toys will release on June and July. Now Bandai has announced the new GX-75 Mazinkaizer I can't wait to have that figure.
Great review. I believe shortly Bandai will reveal a new Mazinkaiser which looks amazing. I think it will be in this scale as well. Looks amazing. I just picked up the Sentinel Mazinkaiser which is amazing however Bandai's new reveal looks pretty much just as good and will be half the price. DOAH!
what so cool about this is that you can now pose GX-70 pider off with the dark eyes of Mazinger which also means that the Pider is not on and Mazinger is not activated, and gold eyes which is also the Pider is on.
There was an English dub of Mazinger Z made in Hawaii which it aired in my country in the late 1970s on GMA Network. In the United States however, the anime was edited & aired as Tranzor Z in 1985.
I think you should try to review all of your mazingers RPA, I feel there are a lot of people who still don't know how many are out there and you would be the best way to get a lot of that info out to the fans.
Great review I love mazinger stuff and this one is awesome, love the comparison and you forgot the iron cutters :o ... Jokes aside this figure is great and has display presence as well...
nice review... I'm having a hard time chosing between selling my gx01r anniversary and buying this one. though I dig all the extras I'm not sure about the lenght of legs and arms. I'll be sticking to the old one...
i got gx01- gx01r and the gx70! GX-70 is more what the toy look in the anime look. but more than just the looks the wings of the GX-70 is more proportion also to the anime!
RocketPunchArmy Ha ha ha! I’ve dropped mine a few times, just not on video,. BTW great that you pointed out the “jet scrander syndrome" for this figure; almost every Mazinger figure that comes with the Scrander has this problem of paint chipping when attaching it. I just bought the King Arts version and I might just never attach it.He can just stay and fight on the ground. :-)
I have the 40th anniversary and is a great figure, I saw this guy some japan reviews wait for a nice review like yours, if the 40th anniversary dint exist I would get this guy, I like the bulky one this guy is to skinny, and dint like the join on the articulation well for what I have seen. And yeah that base will drop that big guy Great review thanks for sharing
I like the GX-01R myself. It has the spring firing Rocket Punch. A better selection of hands and gimmicks including both pilders. Plus I prefer the beefier more rounded limbs of GX-01R. I know the straight slender ones of GX-70 are anime accurate for the movies, but I just don't like the look as much.
