If you want to see more of these videos, or would like to say thanks for this one, the best way you can do that is by becoming a patron - see the link above :). And a huge thank you to all my existing patrons - you make these videos possible.
Overview of bandgap references - why we want them, and what underlying assumptions we are using to make them. I describe the idea of the temperature coefficient (just a derivative) and show how we like to simplify functions of temperature within a given range so they appear to be just linear functions of temperature. In the next video, I will go over the circuits we use to generate these temperature dependencies
Hope you found this video helpful, please post in the comments below anything I can do to improve future videos, or suggestions you have for future videos.

Very nice and comprehensive explanation, many thanks! What I've missed is the correlation of the idea to the Band gap of the semi conductor material used like silicium.

Yeah, it's buried pretty deep in the circuit. Basically, if you do a bunch of math (which I haven't done in this video series yet), you can get an expression for the voltage that depends on the bandgap of silicon. Razavi's book on the subject does a decent job of showing where it comes from.

Best intro on this topic I've found. Part2 doesn't seem to be in the cards but thanks for this intro!

Why does the introduction picture show a circuit, but the video does not described the circuit! Where is part 2? I do not feel like I am any closer to understanding the band gap reference. It would be really nice to see the circuit and for you to explain how it works.

Hey Jordan. Thank you very much for your quick explanation. I am wondering if you study more about this topic on your RU-vid channel as you mentioned at the end of this video? I could not be able to find it and I am interested in learning more about this topic from you.

Does have a bandgap reference be power supply independent as well?

I had to downvote this because the still image is misleading.
