I love my Jukebox to the core, but I gotta give TxSu this one. The fact that nobody knew what to expect, Southern did their field show first, so we just thought it was just a regular ordinary day. SHIIIIIIIIIT TxSu went into Southerns corner and showed Tf out. Lol and then to also add to this that we got our ass whooped 24-0 on the football field too LMFAOOOOO it was L across the board for us 😭😭😭😭

Check it, We (JUKE) were marching out of Rice stadium when TSU decides to play one of our signature songs (Sweet love) Anita Barker which hadn't played all night. People need to reverence in what HBCUs do in the band world. So many SU, JSU, Alumni are now on full display throughout the United States in leadership positions. Brian went hard at SU and I ain't even mad. Its been a long while, like since 2011 since TXSU has been bringing this type of musicianship. I'm all for it, even if that means seeing Brian turn them boys into a beast. Mr Taylor has a staff that can handle any noise and shut that shit up quick, but Band overall is becoming real competitive again and I love it.

Ok!!! Southern University, we have a problem!!! Bands take on the characteristics of the director. Brian is unafraid, will out work you, and has the drive to do whatever it takes to be the best. Then the special sauce is he has a nasty pen game and is the king of petty smh. I'll give it 3 years, he'll have the best band, if not sooner. The only other directors who have that type of charisma is Haymer (not currently directing) and Willie over at Miles (below average pen game). The Jukebox was the best and most imitated band before Brian Simmons was a member, before he became an assistant and after he was passed over for the head job. The Jukebox is still the most imitated band on the planet, including our newest copy & paste band AKA Human Jukebox (West) TxSU. There's already a Human Jukebox. There also was an Ocean of Soul. I HATE that people are saying that Brian is trying to make Txsu sound like SU. If you listen to Txsu play you’d hear a lot of distinct differences in their playing styles and arrangements. First of all, for the first time in my lifetime SU actually has a school that has as good and in some cases better arrangements. Secondly, a big difference if you listen is is that Txsu b-tone section has a lot of split parts in their arrangements. Sometimes having 2nd and 3rd parts. Most of SU songs the baritone has one part. Third, Txsu unlike SU they’re actually playing with more dynamics on a lot of their songs where some songs they’ll even play mf for most of the song instead of FF or Fff.

TSU started the Fire, got all the smoke, collected all the ashes, and dumped THEM in the Ocean of Soul 🌊. Southern was not the same after that. They lost their professional composure and didn't stay within the rules of respect( meaning SU had their time on the field and didn't use it wisely against one of their own. They should not have tried to play over TSU. They lost everything at that point. Rattled). Simmons was strategic and masterful (and most of all professional) for the March in, 0 qtr, stand play, halftime, 5th qtr, and March out...complete dominance. Simmons, the giant killer. He handed SU an old fashion a-whooping and reminded them they were playing a SWAC school and they all can get professionally disrespectful. This is THE SWAC!!!
