OMG I went to the JT factory shop about 6 years ago when we were in Bangkok - husband stayed at the hotel obviously. It was a bit of a trek but I nearly wet myself when I walked through the door! As I recall 4 or 5 floors worth with the top floor being discounted JT items from the shops. I bought a number of lengths of cotton voile (a least I think thats what it is) in oranges and pinks with various elephants and fern prints - just fabulous. Not heard of China World but there is a market down by the river (not chatuchak) - forget what its called also has a large fabric area but a hot and sweaty trek if you go there! The two embroidered fabrics at the end are just fabulous! x

I am from India and I can totally understand how happy you are with your purchases. I am in love with the white one with embroidery, I mean it's so beautiful that one can look at it all day. Can't wait to see what you make with them! Happy sewing!

WOW......... I thought coat as soon as I saw the first one or if you don't have enough then a simple straight line jacket, that fabric doesn't need a pattern that is complicated, the second one is absolutely gorgeous I can understand why you caved in. Well worth whatever it cost to have two original pieces in your wardrobe.

La-la-la-lalala-la-la. La-la-la-la-la-la….. Wonderful shared experience of fabric buying excursions. Your colour palette is my favourites and I have yellow undertones to my skin while do not. I have called that green colour popo-green since childhood when my Canadiana coloured pencil set had grey-green no. 63 to draw and shade with. Entirely captivating and inspiring. The rain shower under the leaves was luscious too. Thank you

Thank you for sharing your silk with us. It is all gorgeous and I soooooooo look forward to seeing what you SEW with it. (Sorry people but it's made to be used, not hoarded, or simply hung on a wall.) Yes, a simple coat from the heavier embroidered fabric (Lisa Comfort made a cropped jacket from an Indian fabric that looks fab.) and a special 😉 dress for the chiffon. They will be stunning. I have a dress sewn from a silk cotton and it's so nice to wear. The coral colors are my favorites of the solids but the rich brown was a smart buy as it's hard to find warm neutral fabrics. Yeah, silk!

What a fun shopping trip. Absolutely LOVE the embroidered silk. The first embroidered one definitely a jacket or coat. The second one would be beautiful as a dress. Great finds.

That stiff embroidered silk is just crying out to be a Monsoon type jacket. It would be gorgeous, I don't know what pattern you should use but very simple lines to let the fabric show. You will make stunning garments from all the beautiful fabric you bought. I have similar colouring to you and since beginning to getting my me made wardrobe together it is looking more and more colourful in mainly the same colours as you. I do wear grey and navy though as neutrals. Being able to choose the colours that suit you is such a delight instead of having to make do with what colour the clothing is made in.

Gday Helen. Wow I can see why you are speechless! Your fabric`s are lovely, your 2 favorite ones seem far too beautiful to cut up into something, when I find a gorgeous fabric sometimes I feel like just having it as a wall hanging. I am sure you will sew something stunning. Looking forward to seeing your finished makes. Have fun traveling. Thank you for sharing. X

From one silk lover to another I just have to say how MUCH I enjoyed your video - all your fabrics chosen are colours I favour the most too - that luscious brown and the green one OMG! The embroidered silk was so beautiful! I would have gone nuts for sure. I was thinking the same thing that you have to make yourself at least ONE lovely jacket out of the lot - you might want to look at the Sewing Workshop patterns by Linda Lee - she has a few jacket patterns that would look gorgeous in one of your silks :) I would love to go to Bangkok and maybe one day I will make it across the Pacific pond!

Oh how I wish I had seen this video BEFORE I went to Bangkok. Unfortunately my husband went shopping with me. I had very little time - the mall in Chinatown only- and he was all but tapping his foot and looking at his watch! I was only able to purchase one piece of cloth - 5 meters of black silk.

Amazing fabrics. With the embroidered silks I would use the same pattern, sewoverit the ultimate shift dress. The first fabric I'd use the pattern as it is .Then if you check the vlog on Lisa comforts shift dresses you'll see she's used a heavily patterned fabric as a border for a shift dress.so you could use large leftover pieces for that and smaller pieces as appliqué designs. The second fabric I'd use the same pattern but draft on a grown on sleeve to take advantage of the movement of the fabric. If you check over the sewoverit patterns there are many that will suit your fabrics.Im sure you'll make something as amazing as the fabrics as you have the skills not only to produce shop bought patterns but you can draught your own amazing designs.I can't wait to see.

I have never seen your channel before but wow!! I loved this video and I am a 6ft blokey IT guy LOL Love your expressions. Made me literally laugh out loud. The green silk showed off your eyes spectacularly and I would advise a box style short jacket type top with thin lapels. You would look very business serious!! :o) You are great and I can't wait to see what you do with them. Go for it. The last embroidered fabric HAS to be a dress. It begs for it. Needs to be very thin straps though with no shoulder covering but flowing sleeves.

For your lovely embroidered silk, what about a blazer, or a menswear-inspired vest? Also, I think the coral and green would actually look stunning together. green dress with a coral sash? Or a skirt with different color inside the pleats?

I want want want all of them pleezzze - how about a giveaway?! That would solve the tricky problem of what to make with them, or, put the embroidered ones on the wall and gaze to your hearts content. Maybe you could meditate, using them as a focus? Seriously though, a Chanel type jacket would look fab, and be an incrediblely useful item of clothing. My colouring is similar to you which is why I am being envious...nay even jealous of you. Enjoy you sewing!!

First of all, regarding the overall embroidered fabric, I really hate you. I am sooo jeolous! So how about a sleeveless coat-vest, long. Wear jumpers underneath. You have to make something classic enough to last forever. Just beautiful. And make pincushion with the scraps. Can't wait to see it.
