My wife and I love Thailand. Before the pandemic, we used to travel at least 3 times per year to the Land of Smiles but always to Bangkok once. Noticed this bike path long time ago when flying in and out but was never able to get there. Just before the pandemic struck, managed to visit and hire a bike. The current King of Thailand is a keen cyclist and he commissioned the construction of this cycle track. It’s a great facility and it’s used frequently by the locals, who are avid cyclists. Looking almost pristine, needs a lick of paint to make it look immaculate. Hope to visit again soon.
You should try cycling at Banga Chao, also sometimes referred to as the green lung of Bangkok. It is by far one of the best cycling places here, and quite a unique experience. I have lived here since 2006 and are riding a Brompton myself - I would be happy to take you for a ride there if you like.
Same, but I can't help but think that it would not be profitable in all countries. Personally here in Denmark, you can literally ride anywhere and most areas across the country are really good for bicycling. I can basically always choose a new place to ride everyday from where I live, I don't even have to take my bike anywhere because the local area is just that good.
Great to see you trying out and enjoy riding the Sky Lane. You guys are very fit and strong really. I rode my folding bike on this course a couple weeks ago. There used to be a lot more riders before the pandemic. Thank you for making good example wearing masks. Looking forward to your next videos.
It looks incredible. It really seems like in Asian countries, they understand the value of promoting leisure cycling or cycle tourism. Whereas here they really don’t. People do it because they are the type of people who are determined to do it despite the obstacles, but it’s just a tiny group and not the mainstream. Asia isn’t so good at cycling for transport infrastructure, but at least they do the leisure and tourism part well.
A free 23km bike course with supporting amenities! That's just too awesome! Next, you need to put on some tri-bars and time trial that course and see how many of those roadies you can reel in with your foldie.
Dang, little did I know Bangkok have cycling tracks like these, even as a frequent traveler to Thailand. My country have something called Park Connector Networks (PCNs) but with uninterrupted rides, nothing comes as close as this from where I'm from. I miss Thailand, haven't been there for two years now but watching your cycling tour videos in Bangkok makes me miss there even more. As a beginner cyclist myself, your videos have been an eye opener and I can't wait to visit Bangkok again once things have settled down. Watching your videos makes me wanna bring my Tern C8 there and experience cycling on uncharted territory. I've always been to Bangkok, but your cycling tour videos makes me view the country in a very different light. Hoping to see what you'll be up to once you reach Chiang Mai. Until then, have a safe journey!
There is no river around the course. It is a canal, dug out around the airport to prevent the flood into the airport. The canal water flows to the sea a few km away.
@@TwoWheelCruise Yes, for training you're just focused on your watts, series... But I never train, I just ride for the joy of it. Anyway, most people would give away a kidney for something like this where they live.
Would like to see more videos like this where you describe your ride and show it at the same time. Most of this type of video people want to be in the video all the time and see very little of the scenery it's self. Well done informative and fun to watch.
This was my home course when I lived in Bangkok! You should go there in the early morning next time - you will see lots of fast bikes such as S-Works, Cervelo or Pinarello riding at over 40km/h. Thank you for the great video!
Whilst I appreciate the benefit of a circuit like this in a massive built up city. I can't say it was lovely enough for me to wish I could visit there .
In 1968 I was stationed in Bangkok with the USAF. Our base was across the runway from the Bangkok International Airport. I assume this is the the airport you are riding around. I was assigned to live in a hotel in downtown Bangkok and rode the bus everyday to and from there to do my duties. I have fond memories of the people and sights of the country. I hope you enjoy your time there. Best wishes.
@@TwoWheelCruise Yeah, after googling I found that Don Mouang International was the airport I was at. I was thinking it was fairly new, but again I was there fifty some years ago. Keep riding you guys.
Actually you can take airport rail link they allow to bring the folding bike along with you to the airport and cycling to bike lane it is not very far and a lot cheaper
Wow! Love to go & do my bike vlog there if given the chance. Wish there could be a well established cycling track like that here in the Philippines. Simply Amazing!
This place looks like a dream come true! Definitely on the top of my places to cycle in 2022, currently in Pattaya. Possibly moving to kohrat this month to check out the cycle scene.
Wow! I’m jealous, not even a thought of something like that here in LA, absolutely love this facility, great job finding this gem, the ride was phenomenal, I can see myself flying on my black stallion there…
Biker paradize --> yes Oh my goodness --> agree You have to come on sunny day and see sunset. Hope there are many place like this in Thailand especially in Krabi.
Very nice! I like to ride out to the local airport as they have good roadways going in and out with wide shoulders, and I like to hunt down faster riders too since most are younger than me.
Oh wow that looks amazing, a good biking lane is like oiled machinery just keeps you riding. Btw how are the folding bikes work for training? You guys are happy with them?
MEEEAAAA RUSUEK ICHA MAAAK I am so envious! I last set foot in Thailand in 1999 and there was nothing like this. You have convinced me to go back for a visit with my Brompton folding bike in the next year or two. I am surprisingly fluent in Thai after all these years. My Japanese pretty much sucks. I study, but I do better when I'm immersed in a language. My best ride in Thailand was from the southern border to Hat Yai. Many foreigners at that time would start the second half of their double-entry visas by crossing the border by train, waiting six hours at the station, and taking the train back north to Bangkok. One time I brought my heavy Thai mountain bike down, and rode to meet the northbound train in Hat Yai. It was epic. There was a crust of salt around the nose piece of my glasses from the dried sweat when I took them off for a shower in Hat Yai. A lot of water had cycled through that much younger body that day. I never experienced that salty accumulation again.
@@TwoWheelCruise I don't know if the visas work the same way now, but the closest embassy to Chiang Mai is Vientiane (pronounced "Wiang Chan") in Laos (please just say "Lao". Those French spellings🙄). Some nice riding up there, but hilly.
It's very interesting to see people are wearing mask when cycling in Thailand. Most cyclists in the U.S don't wear them when they are cycling outdoors.
What an extraordinary place, like a blue and lilac motorway for bikes, complete with services and mile stones ! Perfect for speed training or easy riding. But how did you manage to reduce the thunderous noise of the low flying planes, so that we could still hear you ?
You can rent a hybrid (Specialized sirrus/Giant escape) for 400baht, which is what I normally do when I am in Bangkok. The higher prices you mention are for higher spec racing bikes. Normally, the course is busy early morning or late evenings, when the sun isn't bearing down on you. You lucked it out on your trip as it was a cloudy day. Be wary of the communal sit down areas near the shops as majority of users ignore mask/social distancing rules. Stay safe!
I am glad you guys had fun at the skylane. I hope you guys had record a night run with those fast night cyclists. Btw I think it will be awesome for you guys to do another run in the future on the tt bike or road bike.
@@TwoWheelCruise also, it maybe worth checking out the gusto bicycle if you are looking for an inexpensive bicycles in thailand. It is a Taiwanese brand with some american technology in a certain model. It is very well equip for the money you have to spend for it.
I not sure that you can handle the slope at Cheingmai area please try Doi Sutep and to Doi Pui first if its ok then you can ride around in Northern area.
That's a beautifully maintained & paved course! I've seen videos of people on Triathlon/TT Bikes doing this course. So much better than the Park Connector Network where I'm from.
If you looking for a big group ride or chasing TT bike I'd suggest you go to Skylane in the very early morning (05.00-10.00) and Late afternoon to night time(16.00-20.00)
This place is called "Sky Lane". It usually crowded after 4-5 o'clock. On Sunday December 5 in Thailand is Father Day and a long weekend in Thailand, so that why not so many people at "The Sky Lane" on that day.
You should show the both of you at the beginning of every video (maybe next to each other) so your viewers can see what kits you both are wearing. We always your wife but not you. Curious, do you guys prefer padded shorts or non-padded? Great course! Very nice video. 🚴🏼♂️🙂👍🏼
I rode that track many times. I was laughing when I saw you guys going 27 kph thinking it was easy, I was saying to myself just wait and yup there it is, the headwind. It is like that for about half the year, same wind same place.
@@TwoWheelCruise Yes it would! :) If you aren't yet familiar, it's @cervelothailand They have a lot of cool events and recently had the guys from Jumbo Visma.
I envy you two. You can ride year round in warm tropical weather. I'm in the grip of winter in Canada. And won't be able to ride until April if lucky. We do have an indoor bike park for MTB and bmx. It's small and a hassle to get my bike there.
Thanks! Here they are, we love them craftcadence.com/collections/handlebar-bag/products/craft-cadence-waterproof-handlebar-bag-3-5-4-litres-yellow-black?sca_ref=886387.C0B3pWFKbT
Yoooo , a week din't watch youtube and glad see you and Thung landing Thailand safely, so how's the feel no need wear winter jacket ? XDDD edit: agree you , riding around airport is funny , more country shall made like this path .
You guys should meet a RU-vidr named Joel Bruner and his wife Li in Chiang Mai. They do vlogs about bike riding, food and cultural stuffs. His channel name is just Joel Bruner.
your veins SCREAM competition...;) btw 2 meters elevation is considered mountainous here at the german/dutch border..^^ edit-really nice park- not some virtue-signalling-never finished project as what we get here in germany- just some plain, honest, track with all the bangs and whistles...
Is it really almost perfectly flat? Some of the courses like that that I've ridden elsewhere would have sections that would be false flats, lol. Looks like it would've been really fun if you guys had road bikes!
I still don’t get why we don’t have Asians on any teams n the tour. It seems like most Asian and pacific islands love cycling so much. We certainly don’t have nice parks like this in the USA but we have folks on the Grand Tours.
Lots of reasons. The competitive cycling culture in Asia is very new, and other countries (Europe, US, etc) have generational advantage (parents were cyclists/athletes, raise their kids to be one). Political reasons and connections unfortunately since most teams are based out of Europe. Also, cycling is a rich and middle class sport, and many Asian countries are just starting to grow their middle class and have less financial burden to enjoy sports growing up compared to before.
Even if it's not a law... I do wear mask when cycling... It's not unhealthy... There's a training called altitude training which wear mask restricting air intake... And wearing mask is the new normal...
@@siameseboy1980 Wearing mask has nothing to do with health, it is to make people like slaves, yes the new normal THE GREAT RESET (Klaus Schwab) “You will own nothing and you will be happy” ! ! ! Same is the QR-code, to have complete control of the people like it is now already in China !
