A great way to travel in Thailand is by train. I’ve done the trip to Hua Hin many times and it’s very easy to do. Another popular route is to ride the train to Ayutthaya. Here is a video of that if you want to see. Bangkok’s Bang Sue station to Historic Ayutthaya by train 2022 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rjhMxkr4iN4.html
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching. The train trip is basic but to me very enjoyable. Most of the trains have been moved to the new grand station but this ordinary still leaves from here.
Glad you enjoyed it. The train is slow, seats are hard and it’s always hot… still a great way to travel. I did it for probably the 100th time again last weekend, there and back.
Nice job. I want to do this. And stay a week or two there. You see any surfing? I'd like to go and surf and or just STand up paddle board. See any STand up paddle boards for rent there in Hua Hin?
A week would be about the right amount of time here. I’ve never seen anyone surf but wind surfing seems to be popular. I think you could rent a stand up paddle board also but I’m not sure how much it would be. I do show a bit of the windsurfing in a video I made of just Hua Hin beach. Here is the link if you want to take a look at it. I flew the drone around so you can get an idea about the beach. I hope that helps. Glad you enjoyed it. It’s a fun trip and easy to do. I already do the ordinary since it lets you hang out with the locals. You can also eat whatever food they bring into the train or stand between the cars when it’s hot.
Glad you enjoyed it and I hope it’s helpful if you are planning on doing the train to Hua Hin. I need to update the video. Since I made this video a lot of train traffic has been moved to the new main station.
Glad it was helpful for you. You can also catch this train from the bangsue junction station if it’s more convenient. I just like to get on it at the start for the best seat. Thanks for watching.
Even the newer ones with the thicker cushions might be a bit tough for 5 hours on the ordinary. The train does stop often and you can get up and walk around if needed. That is what I do because after a few hours things start to hurt.
Doing this trip tomorrow, was actually going to take the train from Bang Sue Junction but after seeing this video I think I’ll take it from Hua Lamphong 😅
It saves you about 30 minutes from Bang Sue but I prefer from the old station. You can get a better seat and see the old station. Enjoy the trip and thanks for watching!
Good one. Well done. Bring eats! I'm retired & easily entertained. The trip itself is a lovely way to pass the time. I'm a sucker for a slow motion train ride; open cars, fresh air, mingle with the indigenous people. I'm in! 44 baht. Unbelievable! Next question is an equally inexpensive place to stay. If not, which I doubt, return same day. Thailand is like Vegas; if you use your head you can play Vegas rather than the other way around. My appetites are few & small. All of S.E. Asia is an outstanding playground!!! 👍🇹🇭🇻🇳🇲🇾🇮🇩🇱🇦🇰🇭❤️
Glad you enjoyed the video. You will really have a good time on the train. The only thing is it can be very hot. Right now it’s going into the rainy season so it’s a much better time to ride on the slow train due to the heat. If you want an inexpensive hotel there are many in the area around the train station. I usually stay for around. 400-600 Baht. If you want to book before you go check with agoda.com first. I usually just walk in and find something. The beach is a stone throw from the train station and the old town area around the night market is where all of the cheap hotels are. If you want to come back the same day the 44 Baht return train is the same one you go there in. You have to get off, buy a ticket and then get back on the same train. It leaves about 30-40 minutes after you arrive. There are a few other trains but they are more expensive but an option. Another way to go back to Bangkok is by mini bus. There is a booth near the night market with a lady sitting behind a desk. It’s something like 200 Baht and it takes you to Mo Chit in north Bangkok. They leave every hour until 5pm I think. It’s a little harder to find but still easy. I hope this helps. Enjoy the trip!
@@endlessjourneytravels thank you VERY MUCH for the long & detailed response!!! I really appreciate that knowing you have your hands full with comments & inquiries. I assume those hotels you mention have monthly rates too. I'm married & retired & always look for a place to hang my hat for a month or more at a time; best rates that way. One month here two months there... DaNang, Saigon, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Thai isles, K.L., Vientiane, Pakse...you know. 👍🇹🇭🇱🇦🇻🇳🥢🍤🧕🏝️🏊🌹
@@whatsname2649 you are living the dream. I still have to work so I can only do short trips everywhere. There are places that do the monthly rental. I’ve never stayed that long so I don’t have any recommendations for that. There is a large expat community in Hua Hin so it should be easy to find a place. Vietnam is a place I want to really explore. I want to ride my motorcycle from north to south and see everything. I’ve just been to HCM city but I’ve seen videos of people traveling that way and it gives me itchy feet. Lol
9 baht an hour! Always hit the like, but I didn't subscribe after watching a few months ago, but after your informative response to my comment I felt guilty about not subscribing, so I just did! My conscience is clean. 😁🇹🇭👍
Welcome! You just subscribed in time. I was going to send my minions there with “an offer you couldn’t refuse”. Lol I hope you enjoy what I make and find some value in the content. If there is something you want to know more of let me know.
Would you advise getting the train from Hua Lumphong so that you get a good seat (by the window). I reckon if you catch the train from Bang Su, the best seats would have been taken.
I would say get on at Hua Lamphong if you take this train. At Bang Sue it gets pretty crowded and you might end up sitting in the middle with your back facing the direction of travel. I also just like walking around the old station.
I’ve made that trip and it was very uncomfortable. There was no air conditioning and the seats were hard. It’s better to pay for the “first class” train or take a mini bus from Ekkamai.
It can be very uncomfortable. This is the cheapest way to get to Hua Hin. It’s not for everyone though. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
Not sure I would travel this way as I expected someone to be carrying some goats and chickens LOL but it was nice to see what Thailand looked like from the train.
It’s slow and cheap. The long distance trains you see a lot more of the random stuff being carried onto the trains. Going to Hua Hin is basically taking the bus for many of the locals. They do have the express and special express trains that are a/c and skip many of the small stations. I don’t mind the slow train with the oppressive heat. Lol Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed this little part of Thailand.
Hi sir. I’m planning to go to HuaHin from Bangkok but maybe on different type of train (rapid 2nd class seating). From your opinion; which side has interesting view? Left or right? TQ.
I would say sit on the right side. Even if you are in second class you can get up and walk around. Either side is still interesting if you can’t book on that side. Enjoy the trip!
All long distance trains have been moved but local and commuter trains still originate at Hua Lamphong. It’s a bit confusing at times. You also still have to catch some trains from the old Bang Sue station.
On this train it’s just 3rd class. There are other trains that offer better seating. A nice site to see the options is train36.com or download the free app SRT timetable. Those are where I go when I trying to plan a trip. This train is also the slowest since it stops at every single station. The rapids and express trains skip most of the out of the way stops. I hope this helps.
Yes the small station outside the new grand station is called Bang Sue Junction. The new station was originally called Bang Sue Grand Station but they changed the name to Krung Thep Amphawa Station early last year.
44 baht ! for 200 km. cheaper than a bottle of water. i did this trip for the first time in 1986, all the way down to surathani, an adventure back then
It still is going that far. I think the last time I went all the way to Surathani 3rd class was 2009. It’s great fun even though it’s extremely hot and uncomfortable. I need to do it again soon. Thanks for watching!
Those are two completely different stations. Hua Lamphong is the old main station. Bang Sue Junction is the old station behind the new main station called Krung Thep Aphiwat station. This train, the ordinary #261 still runs out of the old station at 9:20am. You can catch it from other stations along the way. A good app to use is the SRT timetable app to see routes, times and costs. I hope this helps.
