"Qurbani" (also spelled as "Korban" in some regions), which is an Islamic tradition of sacrificing an animal as an act of worship during the festival of Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the two major Islamic holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. During this festival, Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice a specified type of animal, such as a sheep, goat, cow, or camel, as a commemoration of the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. However, before he could do so, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead. This event is mentioned in both the Quran and the Bible. The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one-third is given to the needy, one-third to friends and family, and the remaining third is kept for the household. The act of sacrificing and sharing the meat aims to foster a sense of unity, compassion, and sharing among the community, as well as providing for those in need. The timing of Qurbani corresponds with the Hajj pilgrimage in Islam and takes place on the 10th, 11th, and 12th days of the Islamic lunar month of Dhul-Hijjah, which is the last month of the Islamic calendar. It's an important religious practice that holds deep significance for Muslims around the world.

Brent, the best part is they cooked the Qurbani meat just for you so that they can serve you at the time as they promised. All other members probably had their lunch two hours later. Thanks for your understanding and explaining this at the end of your video. In very few places of the world you are going to find this type of hospitality. And keep this in mind, it is not because you are a foreigner, they would have treated all guests the same way.
After rinsing he will use bleaching powder on the road where the blood was, to clean it farther. You heard "blessing" which is wrong. Also that CNZ driver at 10:58 said "He is happy to be part of your content", he seems to be genuinely a nice guy.
In Islam all the sacrificial meat has to be divided in three parts. One part is for family to keep. Other part is for friends and neighbors and the rest part is for needy people. This is just minimum. When I was growing up, we kept very little and gave rest to the needy.

Hey Tim. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. We came from Bangladesh when I was 7. Your expression of your experience in the land I come from is unmatched to date. I felt like I was there with you. Despite being a pretty poor country (although that is improving), the morale of our people is strong and comes from our language, our cuisine, our culture that's 5k+ years old. Even the poor, they make do and make the best of it. What's heart breaking is people leave in masses for the West because of mass corruption and misuse and mismanagement of our people. We are talented, we are strong, our culture is vibrant. Did you know the region of Bengal at once was a major major ship exporting power house, where I read a stat that a Ship from Bengal lasted about 20 years at sea where a ship built by the Brits at that same time lasted only 12 years (You need to see Pak, India, and Bangladesh as not countries nor one country but just a big piece of land with various Vedic ethnicities being the dominant cultures based on where you are in the sub contient) When the British ruled this subcontinent the Bengal region was it's crown jewel. We cannot unite hence why we are weak today, and I"m not strictly talking about Bengalis, just the region in general. What makes it worse is that we are no longer colonized and despite being poor, atleast if the gov't could promise that if you work hard even if you are a rickshaw puller, then your kids will have the chance to move up in society. But even this most simplistic thing, they cannot give and hence why people leave. When they leave they take the powers that power this culture in to another place where we contribute to another culture/economy. Be as that may, I'm just really happy I got a slice of BD through your eyes and experience. One Love Brent.
Do you know that one part of this meat will be given to those who are poor in the family and the other part will be given to those who are more helpless and the other part will be kept for oneself three parts of this meat this is Eid ❤The skin of the animal that is slaughtered is donated to the orphanage, and the proceeds from the sale of the hide are often donated to the orphanage. A portion is also given to those who are quarreling with these people

For each cattle, 1/3 of the meat gets distributed among the poor/ peasant/ subclass. 1/3 gets distributed among the relatives. remaining 1/3 is for the family members.
