Attention Oprah!
Over 27-years, Banjo Clarke told the story of Aboriginal traditions which include caring for the land, taking only what you need, sharing with others and sensing a deep connection to each other and one's elders.
Once published, the story became an Australian best-seller entitled, "Wisdom Man Banjo Clarke as told to Camilla Chance". The book is now in it's second edition from Penguin.
Banjo lived from 1922-2000 and his funeral was the largest of any ever held in Warrnambool, Australia. His advice was even sought by the former Prime Minister of Australia in addition to many others. Shane Howard (www.shanehoward.com.au), a well known Australian musician said, "Banjo was in the business of saving lives on a daily basis."
Here is rare video of his story in his own words, a segment of a larger video based on "Wisdom Man" that is coming soon.
A sad postscript: Camilla departed this life on May 3, 2022 with her husband, an M.D., at her bedside.

What I find amazing about the 1st people of AUS is that they are such passive peaceful people, unlike native peoples of NZ, US etc. Dont get me wrong, the Maoris and American Indians were warriors and fought hard to defend their land and people. I hope future generations in AUS see the wrong of the past and come up with workable solutions, like giving their land back so they can live and preserve their culture like they did for so long.

Uncle Banjos family. My youngest Daughter read the book ,wisdom man. As I also did. And She said DAD. You need to write a song about uncle Banjo. I did it's on a cd of mine, called our historic day. The song is called Banjos promise. You may be able to download it from the Internet. Yours in music uncle murray Harrison aboriginal elder.

this makes me sad to hear how aboriginals were treated. no one should have to experience these things.

A bad as it is, the good thing is we are changing, people are not a racist and murderous as in those days. New generations will create new ways of life, and in stead of clinging to the bad memories, there is more to gained by looking at the Aboriginal way of life with the eyes of a new generation that has more appreciation.

The Aboriginals got a taste for lamb. Not cause they were starving. They kept poaching the sheep which they were warned not to. There's more people and cattle here now and still enough wild food to live off.
