Uncle Steve passed away last year. I completed a diploma of screen and media alongside him. I miss him, he was a mentor and a friend, highly intelligent man and a much respected elder who fought the good fight for his people and cared for many. I miss you Uncle. Gadlabari was your name. Blessed to have known you.
I've watched this 4 or 5 times now. What a beautiful soul. You really are blessed to have known him. I showed my Indigenous mates this vide. They laughed so hard at the KFC insight. That day, we had 3 young men from the Jerringja mob on the South Coast catch Crayfish, lobster, abalone and sea urchin and then cook it on the Barbie with butter and garlic (Well, not the sea urchin). I've never had a catch that fresh. Thanks for sharing a little more about him. All the best to you mate.
Stephen is truly an amazing person. I love his sharing and great personality. I am deeply sorry to read about his recent passing and I am sure he deserves the best seat in heaven. RIP Steven ♥️
I got a sense of aversion when he was talking about getting to know each other on public transport. The sense of judgement from other people listening in. This guy had a truly free mindset, of sharing

This old brother used to come around my aunts place to pick me up when I was a teenager and some other boys and take us on day trips and camping,so we didn't run the streets and steal and get up to no good,I'm 46 years old now, first person to teach me how to drive,my black brother RIP
Im white, from south side of Adelaide, born and raised there. I have spent a lot of time working as stockman and pro shooter in remote northern areas. I love the aborigines ways and wish to get to know their legends and old lifestyles with a great passion. I have many aboriginal friends, but the only thing I dont like ,is where the poison alcohol that white man gave us all , destroys the true nature of aborigines, makes them become lost and aggressive towards all people and mother Earth. And yes, Money is root of evil, control and selfishness. Love to chat with you one day soon. Cheers brother
Is there still a place in our world like the place Steve/Gadlabari was talking about? If so, would they welcome a good-hearted, gentle American, as part of their community?
Awe you are just....I agree wt I've been learning lately contains a lot of what you share. 47 yrs and I finally have found freedom because of this message. Thank you for sharing thank you dear genuine sport, much much blessings to you and yours.
What an important story... all I could think is I love to sit down right beside you and talk... I miss this so much in our "Western spiritually deprived society" - and yet, I am blessed that somehow a lot of people share their story. But yours is extraordinary... no money - no mine - and all lot of diseases disappear. Every time I worked with people for an ideal - we all gave what we had and the payment was wings and inspiration, a smile to wake up with for weeks... Paid job are a drag - as if people are in invisible shackles... THANK YOU, Stephen or better Gadlabari, wherever you are for sharing your wisdom...
Tribes seem to be the only groups capable of actual communism. A tribe is an agreement of values and the desire to survive, while a nation is an agreement of values when the struggle to survive is removed from the equation. This is where people start to step on one another because, in a nutshell, when one can afford to be greedy, one will. People only share this way when they are united against a common struggle, but once there is no struggle, they create it among themselves.
Thank you for posting this whole clip. Still enjoying what resonates for me. When I was 10 years old I recall saying 'I want to meet everyone in the world at least once, because then I would get a chance to learn more about myself.'
Would love to sit beside and learn a lot about Stephen's family and the history of his culture. Well said in regards to the human race too! People have no need to be scared, they simply have not been shown the beauty of such individuals.
Discrimination against Aborigine people is disgusting...I treat people according to what kind of person they are, it doesn't matter what background someone has. Have met and have been honored to work with a lot of lovely Aborigine people in SA, they have a down to earth way of being that many other people have lost. Would have loved to have known Stephen..
Well said. The capitalist financial model is creating much poverty. The shrewd and sly are thriving in this model of more and more profit and monetary gains. If only human race shared we will not need so much manufacturing and exploitation of natural resources.
I think I am an aboriginal, I do as you say Stephan, share share, and I believe as you do, that this is how humans should be. Thank you for this video, I love you all
I would have loved to have sat beside him on the bus and chatted with him. If I saw empty seats he is probably the first person I would choose to sit beside because he looks so interesting but I have always been like that 🌞
Without ownership there can be no greed, and most likely no wars, no one could own a better idea than anyone else, we would live as we are meant to, we are group animals, and that was our strength , just like ants, a single ant is next to nothing, 10 thousand of them m working as one, can flourish like nothing else
Plenty of people are scared to sit with you on the bus perhaps cos you male rather than a black fella, but it probably didn't help in some cases. If you have known any Aboriginal people and got to know them closely, or even sit next to them on the bus, it has often been a privilege in my experience.
+marvin martin He is not technically wrong. The Aboriginal people of Australia had to travel across the Middle East, then through SE Asia onto Australia from Timor by boat. I think I remember reading on Stephen Oppenheim's "Journey of Man" slideshow site (Which is where I am getting all this info from), That the first branch of Humans outside of Africa reached the Levant (Israel), but quickly died off due to some global freeze up or something, here is the site ; "www.bradshawfoundation.com/journey/." So they were originally, I guess you could say, Middle Eastern Nomads.... But probably not in the same sense as Juan is describing it as. That being said, The Kaurna man in this interview has a beautiful soul :-).
marvin martin Yes, I know that. He stated that the Aboriginals come from an Israelite tribe, Which even _if_ some, or one nation did, that doesn't apply to all. Aboriginals arrived in Australia 30 - 60K years ago, Before 2000 BC ever occurred. My point was no one should be offended if someone says Aboriginals, or Europeans come from the MENA region, Because that is where humans originated, and thus we are all connected!! Wouldn't you agree?
Talks and looks like Karl Marx. Well, I suppose he's not smart enough to develop any sort of philosophy on his own so he just follows his base animal instincts.
Yeah nice simplistic shit right there too bad we need collective and meritocratic efforts to keep our massive ammount of humans fed and alive. The reasoning you're giving is correct on the type of societies aboriginals have (hunter-recolectors and small ammount of individuals) but that scheme is unsustainable for large societies sorry.
