Well I would suggest to stop paying taxes. When I guy gas, my roads are paid for with gas tax. When I want a passport, I have to pay for it. My property taxes pay for services in my town. What else do I need.
The bonuses are a disgrace. I did not know that Bank of Canada handed out bonuses. How is it that they get bonuses and great paying jobs while Canadians have to live on a lot less? This is another great example of greed and irresponsible management. It is so maddening that these people just merrily fill their pockets with our money and make us pay more in taxes.
Since when do these folks get to vote themselves bonuses? I can only get a bonus if my business earns a bonus. It is my money because borrowed money built the business and we are blessed to make a profit finally having repaid our debt to build this business. BTW, when we borrowed the funds to build the business, my house, my parents' house and my brother's house were all three signed over to the bank as security.
Ridiculous....they need to be held accountable not rewarded. Their bonuses should be cancelled if they failed at their only job. Working class Canadians are struggling to keep a roof over their heads. Also so confused they want to bring in low income workers how are these workers to survive when we working middle class workers are drowning.

He said something like there is nothing more stupid and dangerous than having people who make decisions and pay no price for being wrong. @@billrea66 In the current world situation there seems to be an insane willingness to put people who have no real proven success in their employment history to allow them to be placed in positions of authority and influence that has proven disastrous for their employers or government leadership. These people are put there for the sole reason that their ethnicity, religion, colour, or gender. We used to have meritocracy and those who supposedly “know” better than us have decided that meritocracy doesn’t matter anymore.
We should have a free market where people get to choose the type of monetary unit they wish to hold and transact. Voluntary adoption between two parties of a currency for buying and selling is Capitalism. What we have now is Crony Capitalism where a select few banks have hijacked our economy and turned the Bank of Canada into a private country club. Their losses downloaded to the people and policies introduced to profit these banks with the nation being handed the losses. Total scam.
I say Canadians stop paying taxes from their paychecks. That would make them wake up. It would actually be way easier than you think. You’d obviously have to save money as you go throughout the year, but imagine if everyone paid income tax just once rather than throughout the year, the government would have billions less to spend/waste and they would either run on credit or be more careful. They’re using our tax dollars as a budget. If they spend the budget, they get to ask for more taxes because they claim they need more. If we give them less, they can’t spend what they don’t have anymore.
YES exactly, income taxes are the reason for all this mess. Or more specifically withholding taxes. They were implemented for WW1 over a hundred years ago. But of course we're never repealed because why would they give up free money? The only way to hold them accountable is to bleed them dry, the same way we hold a private company accountable. If people had to voluntarily pay their taxes once a year sooooo many would be made aware of this tyranny. But because the govt has made it so they take money from people BEFORE they see it it's difficult to achieve
Furthermore when you drain the govt this way there's less of an issue about who is running it. We don't have to feel a desperate sense of dread every time an election occurs. We don't need to try to seek out some new "saviour" that is going to come to our rescue

The company I worked for for 40 years NEVER gave bonuses even when we did a superb job and were dedicated and trustworthy. I wonder if these people know how privileged they are.

This is part of the problem with budgets. It's encouraged to spend the entire amount so that the same or more is allocated the next year. What should happen is an encouragement to save on the budget by spending less. A % of the saved income would be allocated as a bonus instead. An overall reduction in spending and the opposite of a free for all at the trough. And this inflation is squarely on the Prime Minister's office. Print money you don't have and you're going to cause your inflation to soar but an Economic strategist, the Liberals are not. Too bad they didn't have someone like Paul Martin who knew what he was doing.

There was a book written in old man trudeaus era, It was a vanity self publihed book. It listed 1000s of govt waste projects Lip grants, Canada council grants and other govt waste. Somebody needs to write a sequel for JT. Maybe you could get a govt grant for this it wouldn't be waste but monety well spent Revenue Canada audited the writer of the book, but found out he paid all his taxes Can you get his book on line somewhere, it was a good read, it made you laugh and get very angry at the same time. Would the Canada Taxpayer Federation please write the sequel. The book was called a legacy of spending I think.
The bank of canada is not part of the canadian government. It is owned by the private Central Bank. The bonus is given don't affect canadian taxpayers but. ........... Why is the Canadian government paying 5% interest to borrow its own money from the bank of Canada? The bank of Canada is a privately owned bank before profit bank, but they're making a profit on Canadian's money. You want to save millions and millions of dollars? Let the Canadian government issue its own currency and not get the private Central Bank to loan us our own money.
