BANNING - On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at around 3:40 p.m., Cal Fire, Riverside County responded to a A
brush fire along Highway 243 south of Banning in the area of Highway 243 and Mount Edna Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found a vegetation fire burning uphill with a strong.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location, along with two Cal Fire air tankers and two water-dropping
helicopters. No homes or other structures were threatened. According to a neighbor near where the fire
started he said that a car had wrecked and caused the fire. No details on the status of the occupant(s) were
available.
