I chirped mine as a UV-5RTP and got a tri-power. At 467.700mHz. With the battery at 8.2V, I saw it peak at 9.98W with a 1.35:1 SWR or less using the Nagoya 771G antenna. I don't recommend using the stock antenna. I think the reflected power is dangerously high. I do believe I can monitor both the A and B channel simultaneously, Yes, I can also monitor the A and B channels simultaneously.

I have 2... live in "Hurricane Central" and camp, & needed something that would keep me Ota despite lack of reliable power. No complaints. The only "improvements" Baofeng could make would be to a) add a little bit of texture to the sides to make it less "slick" and easier to hold, and b) add a belt clip knob (ala Retevis or Yaesu VX6/7)

I added skateboard tape to the edges of several of them. It seems a good addition to them.

The radio is only worth £51. It is very worth it. I would get one if I had an amateur radio license. I programme these radios for paintball teams, milsim groups, and hunters, a lot. They take quite the flogging and continue to operate. There are even some security companies that have them programmed for security personnel.

Its past time for these radios to charge via USB-C and also have more memories than 128. Bump up to 256 or 512 even

totally agree with you on the number of channels. Could use double or triple the number. You can buy USB charging cables for it or use the USB charging cables from the UV-5R

@@solargeneral The nasty early ones had a strange way to programme repeaters that was not listed in the owner's manual. But, that changed to a user friendly procedure the following year. I agree. The current Baofeng radios are very easy to programme. I do not understand why so many people think they have to have the programming cable to be able to programme them because it is so complicated to do it manually. I programme many of them for teams. Thus, it benefits me to have the programming cable. But, I would not have it if I just had a couple of radios for myself. I do not have an amateur radio license. Thus, I do not own any amateur radios of my own. I do have some broken radios of several brands that I use for parts, but no functional ones for myself. It would be pointless to own any functional amateur radios when I can not use them without a license.

I'm considering this radio. All my county public service is on vhf analog, as well as most 2m repeaters. I also plan to use it with a digirig and laptop for FM digital modes to check emails while remote by the lake. Perfect. I wanted the PRC152 but the cost is drawing me to this radio.

If you're in Puerto Rico you NEED all the storm prepping you can get. Your island infrastructure is pretty lacking. I'm in Hurricane Central on the Gulf Coast and have two of these. This AR152 is very usable as it is. I would have a mini USB "c" charging port (with a cover) tho if you look you can get a DC/lighter charger and a USB to barrel cable. Add a "knob" type swivel belt clip, toss in 220 and 50 mhz

I have one of these too mostly for the battery life and bigger size for big hands. Mine didn’t come with usb. I’ll have to find one. The programming sucks. I’ll have to look into chirp. I’m assuming you need a special hook up for that? Good review!

Any standard baofeng programming cable will work. You won’t find the radio listed in chirp, but mine programmed just fine by selecting BF-F8HP in the dropdown.

Im a novice. Sorry if I say something redundant. Range is dependent on many things. My research is saying 3-6 miles. Elevation/ antenna drastically change things

AR 15 dash 2 forget about Ass**lt R*fles 😂 get bumped on the noggin by a baofeng Amateur Radio 15 dash 2 and you'll feel it lol Seriously though if that's pretty much a weather resistant, semi rugged, easy to use two-way HT i know of a few kids might just get a surprise 😊
