This is my first DMR handy £46.99. First impressions are very good for the cost. Its bult quite sturdy and sports a very good 2200mAh Li-ion battery life. On low power managed no bother reaching hot spot 4 miles away when i nipped to shops today with supplied antenna but yet to test it further away. Sound is crisp and clear. Now that ive had a play with it the controls and menu are very intuitive. Yes i would recomend as a first Tier 1 & 2 tier II Dual Time Slot Radio.

I've programmed this radio for DMR and analog simplex usage. DMR has several advantages over analog. DMR radio supports group calls, private contact calls, private contact radio check ( transmits to see if the target contact is in range and switched on. ), private contact call, SMS (Simple Message Service TEXT) to group or contact and enc****ion options.

It was a pleasure to watch your video on this matter, maybe I'll even learn something soon.

Hello, this radio work with Brandmeister, from Chile, 73, CD6MNA

Oh, the dr has no internal pgm modem, it is in cable plug, but dm version has internal one and uses a small, plain plug on pc end.

No one's mentioned that this radio is a ringer for the *Baofeng UV-H6 10W* radio, and the battery's the same, so you can buy backups from TidRadio. The *Baofeng UV-H7 (10W)* is technically a better radio, but H7 batteries are almost impossible to come by. The H6 is only a watt or so higher on HIGH than the H7, but the MEDIUM and LOW are much better. As for this ringer, the power levels are...let's just say they're embarrassingly low. And after seeing a few reviews, I wouldn't own this radio on a bet! Why radio companies like Baofeng, Tidradio, Abbree and TwaRdios keep making radios that don't make radios that put out a couple of more watts than they do is troubling. Five watts are fine, but if I buy a 5W radio that puts out 3.26 watts, I return the damn thing. I'll even keep an 8W radio if it tops 5 watts, but I won't keep an anemic 5W radio. For an HT (walkie-talkie), I'll take a 4W radio that does 4 watts, or a 5W radio that does 4.x watts, but I won't keep a 3.xW radio. Especially a radio that passes itself as “digital.” This 5W digital variant of the H6 has too many downsides for it to be appealing to me. It doesn't even come close to 5 watts. Baofeng has made a name for itself by making anemic radios that it subsequently tries to pass off as being _more powerful_ than it claims. I recently bought a couple of *radtel RT-470 (10W)* radios that kicked out _13-14 watts_ on VHF and _11 watts_ on UHF.

The power output is really disappointing on that. .3 watt for low is barely useful. Thanks for the video! I wonder if there is a way to mess around with a backup file from the software to add in the calls and info. It would still be a hassle though.

They managed to greatly increase the frequency range of the baofeng DR-1801 with a gimmick, I saw a video on the RU-vid channel in Brazil I think it's pu4bla

So this radio does color code and slot numbers?

Can you store the VFO to memory without using the Windblows software?

I made the mistake of deleting all of the analog channels. Make sure when programming you keep at least two analog channel placeholders. If you don't the radio will lock up and you won't be able to get into the menu.

I'm setting up a PI-Star hotspot. Do you use ANA or digital for the radio freq?

The dr-1801 works well, and programming is very similar to other dmr radios I have prorlgrammed. But what I cant figure out is when I use it for either parrot or receiving a private call, it resets. Very annoying. Anyone have any idea what's happening?

Hello all , problems Cable / setup / radio connection to Win 10 . I downloaded the new CPS from the DR1801A site, downloaded and installed the CABLE DRIVERS. I open the Cps connected to the cable supplied with the radio (It works with the old Cps), everything connected and turned on: no Com port detected. Do you have any suggestions? Help Thanks

I have a problem with my bf dr1801, I do the programming process, I go to print out the device to program it in the device and after restarting, the radio station itself still has channels and frequencies that are factory ones, does anyone know what the problem is? it does everything as it should, without any error, but it simply doesn't have those frequencies that I typed in and wanted to transfer to the station.

12:18 hi friend, I have problem about programming this radio. I am unable to write to the radio, although status on cps program no error no pop up success but radio restart after radio restarting, setting, channel and etc. on radio not changed. read from radio is no problem.

I have the CPS Installed, But no matter what I do, I cannot get the computer to communicate with the radio. Even in device manager, once you plug the cable in turn the radio on, Windows does not recognize it at all, no nothing? Anyone have this issue.

I purchased an DR-1801, and have found little help online. 1) The radio on high power only transmits .9 watts on digital. 2) I cannot get the encryption to work. 3) I cannot receive Motorola MOTOTRBO signals for some reason. Not sure if this radio is worth the money, it more for very close point-to point range communications. Does not work well for repeater use,. Anyone with a different experience? Thanks!
