Baptiste is possibly the best jazz saxophonist I’ve ever heard in the 21st century. I’ve never heard another alto player that improvises so cleanly in and between chords with great speed. He plays super fast. It is rude to call Baptiste the “bird” because there will never be another bird or herbin. Mad respect 🫡.
It's so difficult for me to count the first bar of every beat, I mean his chop is killin'. Do you have any tips to practice or get used and play along to this swing feel?
I always get a little discouraged when players much younger than myself blow me out of the water. At the same time though, I am inspired to practice more.
