No politics, but just listen to the way Barack speaks about his wife, and her sacrifices. There is rarely ever a moment where he does not exalt his wife, thank her, or dote on her, or his daughters. You know what orients this man, who could easily have an incredibly huge ego given his success, is his love for his wife and children. There are qualities of this man that I admire and cherish because anyone would be made a better person (for themselves and others) by adopting them.
Very glad I came across this. I've been listening to Bruce & the E St Band since 1973 - ever since Greetings from Asbury Park. Also I voted for President Obama twice. It's nice that they're good friends!!
THIS is the America I recognize. Just watching them interact, comfortable in their own company, clearly full of mutual respect and admiration. Two exceptional individuals extolling the virtues that make the 'idea' of America so overwhelmingly compelling that I believe deep down will never be blown off course. Can we all pause and reflect upon just how YOUNG a country the USA actually is, and yet to see how global forces always look to you (the United States) as that ultimate arbiter of truth and justice...Let's be clear, I am well aware of America's perpetual pursuit of a more perfect union, and the constant need to protect and preserve fundamental values. No country is perfect (glass houses and stones?). That tends to get lost in conversation sometimes. I for one, feel a lot safer knowing that in anxious times such as these, with all the global upheaval and geo-strategic chaos...and the clear dangers that presents, America is ALWAYS there as that immovable backstop, without which certain unscrupulous individuals (fill in the blank) would happily plunge the world into the abyss. No other country has the resources, reach, and gravitas of the USA. Period. God bless y'all!!!!!!!!! America, the unique experiment
That is NOT the real America! That is the Hollywood elite pipe dream they try to sell you. The democrats only schmo up to the Hollywood elite because they want their money
The scary thing is that with Trump, we no longer were any of those things, and he and his movement are still fighting to take back power. I fear for myself and the world if we don't stop them.
Yes, this was great to see. The problem with the USA is that it made a promise, from scratch, and it did not lived up to it. In continues to struggle as it did "4 Score and then some" years ago.
Hey, I can only speak personally, but we have the UK's back. I try to believe, *at heart*, the US is... well, means well. We're bloody imperialist, that isn't up for debate.
This is my 3rd or 4th time watching this clip to reassure myself and to remember that this country has been great enough to have produced these two men. I loved all the music and talent the Obamas brought to the White House (that we have not seen since) and,of course,I love Bruce."Born in the USA",baby! We need to keep our democracy alive!
@tokkievonksteen the pride has been challenged with the violence, hate, and decision we have seen and the impact of Trump plus overthrow of Roe v.Wade.Its a difficult time.
Great interview. Love them both. I did see Bruce Springsteen live at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver on October 15, 1984 during his '"Born in the USA" Tour. An amazing show about 3 hours long. Fantastic experience. I have followed Bruce since his Born to Run hit in 1975 than got him on the cover of The Rolling Stone magazine. The interviewer said, "I have seen the future of Rock n Roll and it is Bruce Springsteen. I had purchased professional mixing studio JBL 4311 Control Monitor speakers for my apartment and enjoyed them at 1,000 house parties I had over 40 years. All Bruces LPs and CDs sounded fantastic at low volume and very loud volume. Thank you Bruce for your fantastic music your whole life.
I listen to his ( Barak) public addresses over and over. My favorite was his address to the joint Houses of Parliament in Britain. I can’t think of a statesman that made a better speech. He makes me proud.
I like the one where he gives a speech at the University of Kenya. He tells the graduating class that they should not expect to have cars or air conditioners because of rising tides. Then he flies home to his house on the beach in Massachusetts. Then he builds another mansion on the beach in Hawaii. Yeah there is something so sincere about that man.
These 2 capture the essence of America as the world used to know it. Highly competent, dignified, extra ordinary talent, measured, energetic and benevolent. Alas those were the days my dear friends. As an American, I feel that we are now in a highly undignified, insensate, rash and uncaring world! I hope that we wake up for our own good!
HOW in the name of our Creator did America vote for the Orange Man after having had Obama for 8 years. Obama is the epitome of a statesman, and i could listen to him chant the periodic table and be enthralled. And having Bruce Springsteen alongside him. WOW WOW WOW!
Time will tell. You might well get the answers you don't want to hear. Your 'cool' president may have been into some stuff that you don't want to know about.
Two Great Souls show us what Further on Down the Road of Humanity & Progress can look like in the 21st Century & Beyond. May the Ancient of Days Bless & Keep you both ~*~
@@JAGAE funny how he hasn't been prosecuted for dropping all those bombs. Could it be because you're wrong? If you were right, don't you think Trump would have prosecuted the pants off of Obama?
@@JAGAE Well, you can blame slick willie clinton for not taking out Bin Laden in the late 1990's, when the CIA had him in their cross-hairs. Where does it begin & end? FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to happen, in order to get american support for getting involved in WWII. LBJ lied to the American People about the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, in order to justify sending huge amounts of american soldiers to Vietnam, so his pals could get rich through the industrial military complex. Bush & Cheney got rich by allowing 911 to happen. They're all war criminals.
Sometimes-understandably-people can look at the U.S. and not see much to like. These two people represent all that is good, admirable, and distinctive about America.
If I had a son who couldn't decide whether to become a rock star or a President, I'd show him these two guys as examples of who he could be.... which would no doubt totally confuse him even further.
you've said it exactly like i've been thinking it! Every time the Orange Man appears, i keep thinking he does NOT reflect the majority of my American Neighbours, but oh, the damage he has done.
@@tytn9978 Yeah. And I know it's petty of me, but, watching these guys and hearing about all the great White House parties during the Obama years, I get a lot of satisfaction knowing Obama could get just about anybody he wanted to perform any time he wanted them. Trumpty, on the other hand, had trouble convincing the Rockettes to show up. Haha!
Barack Obama so cool. charismatic and down to earth who just happens to have been President of US and Bruce Springsteen just listening and not really saying a lot, but hey he's the Boss.
Hidden talents or dreams are surfacing : First Prez George Bush surfaced as a talented artist after leaving the White House and now Prez Obama is taking to writings music lyrics and becoming a Rock Star! We know he could sing or love singing! 😊 We could all relate to Bruce’s music during college days in the good ol’ eighties ! Nothing ‘s like it!’
Indeed this is the America that is admired around the world: relaxed, friendly and cultivated in its own way. What has happened? How could the country elect Trump? And why doesn’t this stop?
He does ooze charisma and he's not Orange or Evil. And being a proud New Jersey girl (we don't say Jersey girl New Yorkers say it!) But Bruce is King here, as is Meryl Streep, another New Jersey girl. ❤️
@@direwolf6234 what's your point about New Jersey? You included New Jersey when you said there are too many New Yorkers Jersey out west? Again, I say we don't speak like that way. That's a fallacy New Yorkers have come up with thinking it's funny. It's not! People who've never been here, assume it's true it's not.
Barack Obama is responsible for the hundreds of thousands of deaths of the people of Yemen, the fact they gave him the Nobel peace prize is beyond comprehension.
If we could only elect him again! I agree that Obama was a great president. His only fault was that he acted like a grownup and expected that everyone else would also.
@tokkievonksteen that line of reasoning doesn't even deserve a response 🙄, so consider this response my acknowledging that you are a human being and nothing else. Enjoy cloud cookoo land.
Geez I miss the days when the President of the United States was a scholar and a gentleman. I totally get how these two men could appreciate each other. They both have the life experience to look back and see it takes hard work to achieve your most sought after dream and it helps so much I your persuit if you have an amazing woman at your side.
Moderation is not what we need to change things it got us trump while our people needed family policies healthcare for all, free college, elder and childcare instead our treasury goes to the military and the oligarchy and that is why we got trump and anger!
