true most people seem like they are laid back i think on here and on Graham Norton than really any other place that i can think of. what i'm hoping is we get our old Eddie Back and by that is i love the Eddie from the 80's when he was doing R rated films like Harlem Nights which is a fantastic fucking movie. fast forward nearly a decade later when all he did was family films i'm sorry but that's not my Eddie, yeah some of them were good and he was a perfect Choice for Donkey that's not a question but go back doing R rated films that's where he shines the most i think. and going back to Stand up which i hope is just like his old Material from the 80's as it should be, when Robin Williams went back in (2002) that special was awful but when he went back 10 years later it was a damn good one i think.

I think he's more of an introvert in Real Life than on stage or in a role. Remember Robin Williams. Whenever he was genuine and couldn't or wouldn't crack a joke, he was quiet and even a little awkward. Certainly, this interview made me appreciate Eddie Murphy a lot more, for the deeper layers he showed

He wasn't hostile or withdrawn-it seemed like he wanted to be there and do the show and plug the film, but he simply hadn't made much effort to have stuff to talk with the host about. So it was like yes, no, I don't know, just a bit awkward, with these wonderful little offhand gems thrown in where he was warm and very funny. Private, thoughtful, and mature in a way we might not have guessed 30 years ago. : ) I guess I expected the old flash, energy, and edge, so this was interesting.

Jacqueline Rimmer I’m sure Stephen Colbert did his homework as usual. On occasion, Eddie seems somewhat shy and humble. He’s also been perceived as arrogant and/or aloof at times. So, there’s no telling what facet of his persona may appear in different circumstances. it’s also possible he’s just be promoting his upcoming works and not focused on cracking “jokes” per se. He’s a naturally funny guy and pretty savvy in the business. So, I’m willing to bet he’s playing his cards right in anticipation of upcoming projects.

NewhamMatt funny you should ask. Watch Delirious and see what response the last person that requested that got. Lol. In all seriousness you're right though. I love that sketch and really any of Eddie Murphy's SNL work. The man is just hilarious. Hand down.
@NewhamMatt
@NewhamMatt 5 лет назад
@@khrashingphantom9632 I admit to not having watched Delirious all the way through (starting off with all the jokes about gays and AIDS makes it a bit tougher in this day and age), but I'm guessing he got sick of people always asking him to do the same bits a la when Bill Hicks lost it. It's just that, to me, Mr Robinson appears to be his one character from classic SNL that is still insanely relevant.
@khrashingphantom9632
@khrashingphantom9632 5 лет назад
NewhamMatt I don't recall any of the AIDs jokes in that special at all although he does open up with some pretty rough gay jokes I'm not going to lie. But the special is still definitely worth checking out all the way through. There's a reason so many people reference it as a steeple in stand up history. Although I will warn you it is aged and very raunchy. But no he didnt lose his cool like Bill Hicks, actually Eddie doesn't say anything at all concerning Mr. Rob. Just watch that clip on RU-vid. It's absolute gold!

I love how he got a little looser towards the end of the interview. I imagine doing all this press can be tiring and uncomfortable. Especially if you’re just an ordinary person doing your job and getting as you feel, a lot of undue attention. But when people cheered for his return to stand up, you can see that touched him. Very heartwarming!
