Yep, I loop too. Not very often anymore (thank goodness!) but still happens. Here's how I de-looped in real-time... and it took under 1 minute to feel relief!

I have a automatic anxious tought that "I gonna collapse" that i had for over a month and i started with an panic-attack and my brain had stucked on that even if i saying to my self "Everyting is gonna be fine i am only 22 years old, it can't happen to me" or thinking positive about it. Please get me out of this loop, i think I have tried everything :)

De-looping 1. Detect the negative thought 2. Detach from the negative thought . Get in the present moment 3. Detour: change your thoughts 4. De-story. What story are you telling yourself. ❤

Theres only "reason/hard logic/facts/undisputables" & "emotions/feelings". First rid of the looping negative emotions/feelings 2:15 - Detect: That you're having a negative thought loop 2:25 - Detatch: Get out of your own mind/head & return to the present mindless moment 3:20 - Detour: Focus on something else. Quite literally, put another thought into your mind & that is automatic when you do something else. 4:53 - De-story: Change the prevailing negative story you are telling yourself. Change it to "Ill live to tell the story"/"One day Ill tell the story" Once you're level enough & without emotion - There only is left reason/hard logic/facts/undisputables All problems are understanding problems. Hard logic/facts that you dont yet clearly/fully understand. Once emotion is dead & the sensation within is a cold flatline, use your faculty for reason to understand your way to true clarity. Deep inside the problem itself, the solution will be found.

Just FLEET IT. Afterall, its just a fleeting thought. Conflict occurs when you try to make something more than or different than what it is. It's just a fleeting thought so JUST "THINK" FLEET, and move on to the next.....

@@BarbaraIreland Hello Barbara I have also had problems with POSITIVE thoughts looping. Such as rehearsing a lesson I am excited about teaching or a letter I plan to write. QUESTION: Are the techniques the same to stop these (and get back to sleep)? Is this aspect covered in your book? Thanks, Ronn

Hi Ronn, yes! The same techniques will work. Skip step 4 (“de story“) because it will get your brain working too hard, but the first three steps in quick succession will work well. The third step, detour could be to remind yourself that “this is the time to sleep. I can and will think about my talk and my letter at the appropriate time, when I awaken. right now it is time to rest.” Also be aware that if you go to sleep too soon after eating, your blood sugar does odd things and will wake you up around 3 AM. Best to give minimum two hours between finishing eating and sleep. Then your brain won’t have the opportunity to get going!
