Barbara Walters being a terrible human being for almost 15 minutes

Whenever I watch Barbara Walters’ interviews, I can’t help but suspect that she is just a mean girl posing as a journalist. She uses her “journalism” as a hall pass/get-out-of-jail-free card to ask people rude, demeaning questions. Whenever one of her interviewees is visibly taken aback by her abrasiveness, Walters will often hide behind the “you know I have to ask,” Or “You know this is what people are wondering,”. The most egregious example of this was when she demonized Corey Feldman for speaking out about the abuse he and Corey Haim endured as child stars. She accused Feldman of “damaging an entire industry”… By that logic, no one should ever speak out about abuse because it could potentially damage X or Y industry.

Totally agree. This is how the rich and powerful have got away with the abuse of their power for so long. For so many years, victims have been treated like conspiracy nuts and their allegations brushed aside like midges. I notice this was filmed in 2013. Hopefully, since then, after Weinstein and Cosby were exposed in the USA and many others in the UK, the tide is turning for victims of abuse. Sadly however, I think they’re just the tip of the iceberg.

Oprah is a little ‘different’ at least. She has at least ‘bared her soul’, to some degree, compared to Barbara who would never have allowed herself to look vulnerable or challenged in any way-she’d rather ask the ‘tough’ questions and look like she’s sittin’ pretty and honestly interested in the responses. Oprah has at least discussed racism, her weight challenges, her early pregnancy and abuse in life. Her pet cockroaches as a kid. Her family’s struggles. I’m not trying to be shady, or say Oprah is perfect-newsflash: she ain’t-but would Barbara Walters be caught dead admitting some shit like that about her life? Nope.
@FrozenRemix1

@@erikm8372 the “pet roaches” were debunked by close friends, associates, all members of Oprah’s family that were given the opportunity to respond to her accusations. While Oprah, by no means, grew up in luxury, it wasn’t as bad as she’s making it out to be. Oprah has a tendency to “exaggerate at times”. She also has a tendency to attempt to “1up” people in conversations and interviews. It's like, I'm from the UK. In soccer/football academies for typically under 12 year olds. There has been a speight of coaches who have been arrested, sentenced, and jailed for sexual assault of minors.. For someone who has that proclivity, that's the sort of profession tailor made for them. A position of responsibility and authority. And a position of control "you don't want to do X, Y or Z? Well you're out the team, and you will never turn pro..." Makes me sick..
