18:01 "I'm a big strong guy who can use my phone to call the police and get stronger guys" made me laugh so hard I had to pause the video. Eric is nobody's fool.
There was almost ZERO marketing for this movie, and I just randomly decided to go to the theatres and picked this movie completely blind. It was just a fun fun movie. Justin Long's character is so god damn good. I remember when Tess first went into the basement and grabbed toilet paper, I had no filter and just yelled out "JESUS GRAB MORE THAN ONE!"
@willvr4 Per Wikipedia: "Barbarian has been characterized as having themes related to sexual abuse and trauma, and, owing to the book by which Cregger was inspired, themes of different forms of misogyny. Writing for Film School Rejects, Aurora Amidon asserted that the film is essentially about "the ripple effects of abuse", concerning the characters of AJ and Frank-who, in the habit of harming women for their own pleasure, are cut from the same cloth.[14]" This movie is deeper than you realize.
@@kathrynhoward4196 It can still be fun. Did you enjoy it, or not? Fight Club and Seven are both dark and serious, but also fun. 2 things can be true at once.
Exactly and she's in a bad neighborhood looks homeless can't produce any evidence she should be thier like I'm sorry but it really was crazy to me they just assumed they'd believe her regardless of it being Detroit
God it's so funny when Justin Long is like "I'm saving you" after throwing her off the tower, I love everything with his characterization. I really was starting to think they were setting up some kind of redemption for him and honestly I'm so glad they didn't.
Calvin was on fire, I think with this reaction. The Tire Fireman. Also, you'd think ERic would trust the police less for someone who talks about fighting and going to jail that one time. Their reaction was not all that farfetched to me lol. The most famous case of it is Jeffrey Dahmer's victim running to the police and being released back to him.
@25:14 I love his reasoning for going down there and it is such a great contrast to Tess's reasoning. Like in a way they're both dual protagonists but the way they both go through life are vastly different. She chose to go down there (despite all our screaming at her not to) to try and help someone. He chose to go down there out of some idiotic sense of self-preservation caused by his own toxic actions. It's really good storytelling.
Always interesting to have an antagonist who's both scary and also sympathetic. I felt so sad for the "mother" but she would've most likely kept Tess trapped.
As someone who lives in a city with a large homeless problem, I can verify police will ignore everything homeless people say, and will never actually help them.
LMAO. That's just stupid fam. Can You provide any eveidence where law enforcement completely disregards straigt up murder against the homeless? Can we stop just making shit up? LOL
People will say this is okay like we’re not almost all a medical emergency or layoff away from homelessness. You’re only worth as much as you’re contributing to the wallets of the oligarchs.
@BrianLikesBeans Until we stop ritualistically looking down on others as a society, it will be very tough to change that without a complete economic collapse.... which is not ideal
4:22 there actually is a romantic comedy with the 2 people that were double-booked in the same Air Bnb. It’s a Netflix movie called “Love in the Villa”.
I get Andre living in that abandoned neighborhood. People treat houseless people terribly, they discriminate against them, and even attack and hurt them. Living in a place where people don't go is probably way safer. He knows how to avoid the monster (or monsters because he said there were worst ones in that house). He probably lived a pretty quiet and safe life there.
Less about being black and more about the fact she hadn't showered in weeks, was crawling around a dirty hole where she had to live in her own deficate, and couldn't produce any evidence
Y’all were me with Tess like she has so many chances in the beginning. Keith is a stranger! I don’t even think I will go down there for a family member to be honest😂
I love these guys how can you make someone laugh so much in a movie like that The "don´t go down there, don´t go down THERE, don´t go DOWN there" was great
This movie is incredible and that scene mid way through was amazing on how it took our expectations on what this movie would be about and flipping it on its head.
This was written and directed by one of the members of the sketch comedy group The Whitest Kids U Know. I don't know why sketch comedy guys are so good at making horror movies but I'm glad they are.
I saw this movie in theaters, it was amazing!! The twist might be off-putting but man it was so well done. I don't think the rest of the movie holds up but it delivers amazingly and Justin long is at its finest. Man it was so hilarious!!
I gave AJ the benefit of the doubt until the Bar Scene (22:12). AJ blatantly admitted to it. She said no, he ignored her and kept going. That is textbook he's guilty and I was hoping his "friend" was working for her lawyer.
Random thought: supposedly Japanese phones can’t turn off the shutter sound on their phones, to combat people taking creep pics/upskirts, stuff like that.
Imagine watching this at midnight alone in your room having no clue what this movie is about. I can say it was a lot more scarier than watching it here
Always the best to watch Blindwave during October. :) Pretty decent horror movie overall, but I really hope you guys get around to Hereditary eventually. It's one of the most disturbing and haunting pieces of filmmaking out there!
4:22 I THOUGHT THE SAME! 😂 7:53 comments I make so I don't get scared 😅 "This is my needels" lmaooo I live for you guys just being upset at random things like the toilet cap 😂 31:00 honestly I was waiting for that at the end 31:17 feel that 🤓😂
35:30 mf was living there the whole time, why?! lmao just could leave and be homeless somewhere else, where theres no monster. He also could tip off the authorities about the shit Frank was doing
Yo I LOVED this movie. Saw it in a practically empty theater by myself on a Tuesday afternoon, all I knew going in was Airbnb horror movie with bill skarguard and man did this movie blow me away lol it ended up being one of my favorite new horror movies of last year I think mostly because I just didn’t see it coming lol
It occurred to me during this reaction while "Mama" was definitely incredibly tall, but maybe her strength was more from adrenaline trying to protect her "babies." It would also fit with how Tess killed her Mama wasn't in panic mode.
51:37 Yes -- I had Comcast come and check out the connection in my house without warning. Truck just pulled up one day. The guy wanted wi-fi measurements inside and outside, etc. Also, my gas meter is inside the house in the basement, so yes, utility workers will come inside to check it. If you are not home, they will leave a card and you can report it yourself online or by mail, but they only do that for so long then they really want to physically check it. Also, the water meter used to be inside the house too, but it got moved outside the house at some point when I was a kid. The gas meter will be moving outside when the gas company gets around to it.
This movie and The Descent are 2 good movies to go into blind. I've seen some reactors who put "Mama" in the thumbnail which totally ruins the surprise.🤦♂️
Barbarian reminding us that men cause their own problems while men cause women's problems. The opening feeling scary to me and now just being a meet cute shows how we never know how it'll be when a woman meets a man. Rip Keith 🙏🏽 and AJ is the perfect example of everything wrong with the patriarchy and the things men learn and what they think they're owed when it comes to women, whether our bodies or lives. "She's not the scariest thing in that house" and it's a dying old man shows what a monster he was
Aaron is Ray Stantz lol "Get her!" lol Calvin is Peter too "That's your plan? Get her?" Eric is Winston, not for anything in the video, just a badass. These hooligans are fun!
uhhh Aaron wasn't able to tell if AJ really was a bad person until the end? come on dude. he's obviously a scumbag from the start, it's more that he was potentially on an arc. wild that even after him telling his friend about what happened you still sympathize. that's a grown ass man who should know better. please reflect.
Sherlock taught me that ripping a hand from the socket is in human range, so arm might be. Than she split the head with the fall she survived and everything flew out the window
I love that the Director, Zach Cregger, is from the comedy sketch group "Whitest Kids You Know". Which always gets me when he cameos in this movie because it puts me in the headspace that I'm watching a funny video now.
There is just too many things that don’t make any sense in this movie, like why was there only one woman down there, when there is like twenty videos of other woman? Where’s all the bodies? She alone, was down there for 40yrs??? How are her and the father getting food?? It was a fun watch, but yeah, too many unanswered questions. Lol
the reason why Tess always goes back to help people is because she always let people walk all over her. she said it to Keith when they were drinking wine.for me she was sooo frustrating to watch... every second she should have just left but didn't. tho that's just the way they wrote that character. the girl always helping, always putting other's needs before hers...
