Because her only military achievement had been the torture and killing of innocent civilians, that were even Britons for the main part. The only time she faced a real opposition, she led her army in one of the worst military blunders recorded in history, whitout the opponent even having to invent some special tactic.

I live in StAlbans, verulamium ,in Roman times, the old Roman road watling street is directly under many parts of the modern watling street and where it's not under it's by the side, I travel along it most days. it still follows exactly the same route as it did 2000 years ago. There are only a few places the battle could have been that fit the description. It could easily be found if someone funded the money for the archaeologists and equipment needed . But sadly nobody wants to pay/ fund , for historical reasons alone, people want to earn a profit from their money. If I was wealthy I would happily pay to look for the site . Its somewhere around the dunstable area , near to the river for animals and people to drink and the only area with hills and slopes, before and after is quite flat . It has to be close to the chiltern hills / valley. A few miles north of verulamium..

I have always loved the Celts. Their beautiful music, their beliefs and the countries where they frequented. They were the people of legend and mystery. They were a deeply spiritual people who honoured the Earth, the Animals and Women. They also inhabited the British Isles which are some of the most beautiful places of earth such as Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. Stories such as King Arthur came from them. I have always loved the story of Boudicca, the great Iceni Queen who fought for independence from the Romans. She was a great Queen indeed. 🙏 Some of my ancestors were in fact Celts from Scotland and Ireland. They are truly unique from anyone who has come before or since . Our Celtic Pride runs deep in my family.

@@kratosboy5557 That's a lie. Romans didn't steal anything. It's because the Romans documented that we even know of these people. If it weren't for the Romans we wouldn't know anything about the Tribes. It's like the Tribe that Prince Philip visited. And showed them pictures. They were amazed. You could see your ancestors. Seeing your ancestors was so important to that tribe and the tribal societies. As the ancestors were the gods. It wasn't like a single god theory. Society started by people burning the fire in the house and that was the fire of the god. Eventually, these got joined into becoming "Roman gods" but they were just noble houses and family fires. The Romans weren't just evil. They were an uplifting society, that uplifted humanity. Rather than tribal fighting. Romans found human sacrifice barbaric. That's what these tribes did.

Its said that Boudicca fled from the battle but poisoned herself for suicide a few days later. She could have only of invaded because the roman legion was in campaign in wales at the time. Boudicca also temporarily forced the legion to retreat, massively out numbering the roman army. Paulinus, the governor of Britain and the head of the legion believed he was going to die so he made a speech basically stating if they dont die in battle, they will being tortured. Paulinus then set up a last stand against Boudicca and ends up pulling out a victory after a long day of fighting. Believing that that would protect them from Roman predation and his daughters could govern in Nero’s place. Of course, the romans had no respect for women so as far as they were concerned, it was now Nero’s kingdom/land and Boudicca and her daughters could get F’d. Your absolutely right, Caratacus spent years fighting the Roman's, attacking in guerrilla style, hit and run , joining with other Celts, including Welsh , where they were based . The only reason the Romans got him was because a norhern queen ,cartimandau ( of the brigante tribe, I believe) drugged his wine and handed him over to the Romans. Caratacus was part of the royal family who ruled the lands of middle Britain, the capital city was verulam ( later called verulamium, by Romans) modern day StAlbans, the city I live in . Inexperienced. Had she sat back and taken a Look why they won certain battles, then she would have continued on with guerilla tactics jumping out from the forest to attack the Roman army when they were on the march and spread out. This is not the way the Romans fought. When they got out into an open field and the Romans set up their phalanx formation they could not be beaten. Even if you have 5 times the number of attackers. Boudica's forces were just farmers, not a profession army. She lost in the open field by allowing the Romans to pick the spot. I guess there is this pride to fight them head on face to face...rather than sneak attacks. That pride is why they lost. Had they won, then the Romans really would have come back with a bigger force.

And the romans wouldn’t have come back with a bigger army, the British tribes were wild, spread out, and for the most part Britain lacked significant resources that Rome wanted, pushing Britain would have been to much trouble for them and they wouldn’t have fought that hard if she had won. They gave up on Germany after 15,000 casualties
@tylerdurden3722
@tylerdurden3722 4 года назад
1. The Romans did not fight in phalanx formation. 2. Unless Rome lost an eagle standard, they'd have not gone back. And if they did lose one, they'd only go back to retrieve it. Britain was only conquered because Claudius wanted something behind his name. Nero succeeded Claudius, and by then it was obvious that Britannia was a financial drain on the imperial coffers. Eventually, the Romans did abandon Britannia...for the same reasons Nero wanted to abandon it. Seneca, Nero's mentor, played a big role in these events. Under Claudius, Seneca forced huge loans on the Celts, including the Iceni. Seneca wanted his money back, with interest. The Procurator that had Boudica flogged, was accompanied by thugs, belonging to Seneca. Nero wanted to abandon Britannia, but was convinced otherwise. Julius Ceasar was there a 100 years before and also determined that it was not worth it.

Instead of trying to hold them to a 21st century standard, look at what they tried to accomplish, and what they did accomplish regardless of whether or not they ultimately lost. Boudica set out to avenge not just herself but her impoverished people and violated children. She may have gone down in flames, but she gave Rome third degree burns in the process.
