Fished this swim regularly 22 years ago Wasn't the barbel that were the main target back then, was the monster pike that lurk in the big slack along the weir wall. I had 4 20lb plus pike in 1 day here. Think I caught 8 or 9 between 20lb-28lb in that 1 season I haven't managed a 20lber since 🤔🤣

@Maggot Drowner Yes really. Have you ever been? It's just up the road from me and is very heavily fished all year round (over a year waiting list for the first 10 pegs).. probably fished more than any 'carp puddle'. Never fished it myself as I prefer somewhere a little quieter. :)

Well. Considering a closed season still occurs for three months of the year here in the UK, im pretty sure they don't get hammered 365 days....

@@markcoltman6778 Plus... unlike a muddy carp puddle the fish are free to roam, barbel can cover miles very quickly if they choose to move.

272 days (as the close season is 93 days), but I agree with your point. A similar situation on the lower Swale in Yorkshire. There are miles of Yorkshire rivers that are lightly fished for barbel. The 15 miles or so of the Swale upstream of its confluence with the Ure, probably sees more barbel anglers each season than all the other rivers added together. Admittedly, the fish can, and do move due to pressure and there are a few stretches of the lower Swale that are out of bounds to most anglers.

Well you must be proud being able to catch on the easiest place on the Trent for barbel…………why not try the tidal section further down in south Clifton or further down the Trent, I’d say well done and be worth a watch instead you’ve shown a stretch where it’s over a years wait and now it’s members only night fishing, due to the lack of respect other anglers have for using the bank as a toilet……….not bothered watching the video no point I’ll never fish that section again in my lifetime and I’m only 40………..
