When I lived in Tampa, I had a barber who would simply ask what you wanted and refuse to communicate any further. I once witnessed him complete 5 cuts, including my own in less then 30 minutes. Dude was the truth!
That’s my barber. In the chair I go, “hit me with the bald beard fade and make sure the mustache be twisty like a 1920’s villain. If the beard goes shorter than 10 inches we fightin fam” and not even 30 minutes later I’m bald with not a single stubble, sideburns are faded down, the beard is long and straight and the mustache is waxed into place. $45 with the $30 tip and we out the door ✌🏻
@@booberry6715 It's more about having experienced those things as poc, which makes it much more relateable. But it's not limited to black folks, I think everybody can relate to some of his skits.
Denzel Washington and Sylvester Stallone are greats who can tell a story with their eyes and facial expressions.. That adds to the depth of your characters and this guy gets it.. It feels like he been classically trained in acting..
It’s funny because this is exactly what I experienced. Mind you I am a Chinese American who had no clue what Black barbershops were like. So when I walked into one in Champaign IL for the first time, it was quite an experience to find out it was also a place for endless gossip, debate, tall tales, and emotional therapy. I've passed it plenty of times before but never bothered to check it out. I waited for three hours to get a haircut, which was cool because BET was on and my playlist expanded dramatically after that visit. The barber Craig (we called him CC) was a customer at the Panda Express I was working at the time and he was the one that invited me to get a cut. It took a while but one day passing it I finally walked in. I don't how he got those lines so straight while having a full blown debates with the other people in the shop. I did keep going back afterwards, when I had enough time that is haha.
My Barber will literally take a 10 min phone call, go pick up lunch, and stop in between my haircut to argue with his coworker in Haitian Creole… but for $20 I get the best haircut money can buy.. and I’ve been going to him for almost 5 years. You can’t make this stuff up I swear! 😂 900 likes!?! Crazy!!! Thanks for reading. For those of you wondering my Barber is in South Florida. It’s a real hole in the wall place but I always look fresh when I’m done. Also my Fade and Shave is $25. Don’t go to one of these over priced shops. Look for the hidden gems!
No I legit seen a barber get on the phone in the middle of cutting somebody's hair, walk outside, then come back in drinking a bottle of Hennessy.. yeah nah😂
Jonathan is sooooo freaking talented. Unbelievable. He reminds me of Eddie Murphy at his age how he seamlessly went in and out of so many characters embodying each of them fully. Charming and Hysterical
This is my barber, and I'm a female who only asks for a lineup. He stops for arguments on basketball, relationships, music, culture, and will ask me for my perspective to cosign with him. An hour and half at least! And I'm always after some perfectionist who needs imaginary hairs removed from his beard or mustache.
I learned I didn't know the proper terms to get what I wanted across. I tried twice and both times came away with a cut I didn't like and decided to just sharpen my own skills.
I absolutely enjoy watching your skits. You bring a sense of joy and enjoyment. I just want you to know that I’m grateful for what you do. It turns a bad day into a good one so thank you.❤😊
Naaahhhh definitely not as good as Eddie Murphy playing a Jewish guy as well as the barber! But this is definitely funny. I'd say top 10 barber scenes.
Needed Miss Sally to come in with her LAST 3 buffalo fish plates and Nehi soda. Then have him say” Say Youngblood, I ain’t eaten all day. Gimme bout 10 minutes to knock this out”
I have long hair, so to wash, condition, and to detangle is about 10 minutes, to roll my hair in rollers is about 20 minutes, to dry my hair is about 80 minutes, to take out the rollers and style my hair is about 25 minutes. So around 2 hours. 😀🤭 If it's a relaxer touch up, add about an extra hour to do the touch up. 😀😀 If it's a deep treatment, add about 30 minutes to the normal time for a regular wash and set. 😀🤭
This is exactly why I stopped taking my sons to my cousin, he owns the shop and does this then puts folks in front of them because “they family” I found a nice Dominican shop that gets them in and out and does a great job.😊
