That's a contradiction

I hear you, but corsets in real life and corsets in movies are different things. First because actresses often go from never having worn a corset to 10, 12-hour shoots wearing one; Second, because there might be a certain look the director wants to go for, they're being laced tighter than what's comfortable, etc. And third, because they're sometimes not expertly made. As someone who enjoys corsets and who has made corsets, if your measurements are wrong by centimeters, or if you lace them slightly too tight, they *can* start to hurt after a few hours, and if you don't know that it's because something is slightly off place, you might assume that that's just what it's meant to feel like.

And makeup shouldn't contain lead, but people weren't always as wise as they are now. (Yeah, I know, it feels weird saying that people these days are wise. LOL) IDK which Emma Stone movie they're talking about (possibly "The Favourite?"), but more than likely, the character that she was playing was wearing an uncomfortable corset.

Corsets should not be uncomfortable. They weren't uncomfortable when they were the fashion of the day. There's no reason to push an actor into a month of discomfort for "historical accuracy."
