I always use a heating pad when I do head swaps (or leave them in the car, for a bit, when it's hot outside). I haven't used a hair dryer since I, too, melted some hair. Live and learn.
First of all, I want to say I don’t care for those shapeless style frocks like that unicorn one. They are hideous. Several fashionistas have them, like the prosthetic leg girl. Second, this video was not a fail because you are always great at what you do and being yourself. You could have just deleted it, but your honesty about your mistake may help someone else. Finally, it is a sad day in the toy room but not because of what happened with the doll hair.

Very good skin matches on the dolls. So disheartening when a doll gets broke/ruined when changing them up. I feel your disappointment. I'd be tempted to trim Green hair's hair like a brush cut on top :P but hopefully, you find them both again for a good price and then you'll have two heads to mess with/customize.
Better late than never: 1) warm water to just under boiling. Turn off heat. Bring the pot to the camera room. Put the doll(s) head(s) in zip lock bags. Put them into the water for 5 minutes. Doesn't melt hair. 2) wrap a small towel (or wash cloth) around the hair before using the hair dryer - EVERY time. Then you can use the hair dryer.

she's me! 5'3" size 4 110lbs. lol Been doing my hair neon green for about 4 years! I washed out the mohawk and smoothed it down and put a little headband on her and she looks amazing!
Do they not name barbies anymore? I like this new line and how they have different body types, I find the new curvy one hotter and more realistic. But I have never collected barbie dolls, as s kid I wanted a little mermaid doll but never asked for it because it was a girls toy, I even felt weird when i asked for the batman returns catwoman figure.

I watch Jesus y Sus Dolls channel. He does a lot of re-roots. It always made me nervous when I’d see him leave a doll by a running blow dryer for 5 minutes. He does it to make the heads come off more easily, but I worry about burning the house down.
@toohunky my process for removing head. You can use hot but not boiling water. I use a precision flat head screwdriver 🪛 I go to back of head, squeeze head and gently pry the tiny flat head screwdriver inside and all around the bulb of neck peg to pop it out so that all your dealing with is T prongs go up and angle down pushing down on one prong gently tug. A voila not only does it come out easier with practice you'll have no white stress marks on neck peg
