I wish Mattel would give the fashionestas more attention...they always give them such beautiful face sculpts, nearly every skin tone, hair type and hair color but fall short on clothing (sometimes) and articulation.
@@Barbination that too! I think any of the dolls that have unnatural colored hair tend to suffer the most lol there are alternatives to rerooting if you don't want to jump into poking.

Your kawaii makeovers inspired me to give modern barbies another chance 😅 I usually only buy the extras dolls now but I bought the brunette fantasy hair girl and a TON of hello kitty fashions and gave her a made to move body and she’s one of my favorite dolls now, and even most of my vintage repro dolls are hello kittyfied as well lol

I gave 170 a yarn re-root and I was so glad that I saved her from her worst hair day. And I got Brooklyn last year as a gift from my Niece Aliyah. The Brooklyn doll she gave me was from a playset where she was wearing a purple jersey dress.
I have to admit your videos are my newest guilty pleasure. You did an amazing job styling the blue hair girl. The biggest hit for me had to be the Hello Kitty Scooter. So adorable. I have to stop watching because I want way too many things. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I didn't mind fashionista 170s hair that much. The style is staying in place well despite my 3 yo twin's sometimes abusive play with her. She's been in and out of the bath tub and pool and it still looks the same. I don't expect too much for $9.99. 😄 Granted, the doll I got did not start out with her hair looking so scraggly.

If you want to soften the blue-haired Barbie you get little foam rollers roll the hair up put it in boiling water take the head out of the water after half an hour and let it dry all the way through take out the next morning usually it looks fabulous and you won't have all of those little kinks that your hating

I bought 170 doll too and her hair was so horrible as well, You actually did a really great job on her and I think I will try something like this, because she really is beautiful.

I just trimmed the uneven ends of my doll and I popped her onto a MTM body and and left it at that. I read someone saying that touching her hair feels like you are touching a shower curtain! That was an excellent description. The hair is not just a mess, but it feels so plasticky!
Yeah it’s really plastic-y and crusty.. I just can’t seem to get my head around this quality check and mattel being like: “ah oke, no, this is fine! let’s go ahead with production” 🤷🏼♂️ Ah well, here we are, still buying it 😅🤣 haha

I gave the fasionista 170 a made to move body, I love her hair (mine doesn't have such bad hair), one of the reasons I got her (also at the action) in the Netherlands they are often one of the first to have te new fasionistas.
I really loved that Steffie Love Hello Kitty scooter 🤩😍😍🐱🥰 it is just so cute!! I wish I could buy Steffie on my country but there are none 😭😭😭. Fashionista 170 is one of my faves!! I did the same thing to 170! I changed her body to the move to move barbie and I put her in the hello kitty fashion pack that has the pink tshirt dress in it! For her hair i also washed it and I did a side part and it looks like a short curl hair moment. It doesn't feel the best but I dont think it look bad I like your idea of adding a ribbon I think i will do that!

I was going to skip Fashionista #170 after I heard about her hair, but she is so cute, and only $10 in Canada (Barbie Extra is $40, in comparison). I think you made her hair look pretty good, so thanks for doing the experiment. At least I know I have an option if I get her.
I love the Fashionistas faces and LOVE the diversity of body types, disabilities and such and they are affordable dolls to makeover but the FLOUR SACK DRESSES. O.M.G. Especially on the curvies. Also, why do they ALWAYS give the curvies boots or flat feet? Curvy girls wear pretty heels too.
I like the 170 aesthetic the way it is :) What I don't like about fashionistas is the stiff no articulation body. But I paid 7,95€ so what to expect.... Your restyle is cute
I enjoy your makeover videos, you have a real nack for it! I gave my 170 the outfit from Extra #6, just need to rebody her with made-to-mpove and maybe punch some earring holes. I'm a brand new collector, I only own 3 Barbie dolls... not sure which direction to take this hobby yet.
I love the Color Reveal fairy you got! I bought No. 170 and trimmed her hair and tried to curate a wardrobe for her but my biggest problem with her is her body. She looks awkward in everything I have. I even purchased new clothes just for her. I think I will donate her to some artists who can make her into a tree top angel and sell her for the holidays for charity.
Maybe you could try leaving the hair conditioner on her hair for 5 to 10 minutes. That might work. It worked for me when a couple of my Barbie dolls hair was dry.

Yeah I think my biggest problem with 170s hair is how rough and kinda stiff it feels. She disappointed me a bit too but I definitely want to try to give her a makeover too. LOVE THE OUTFITS YOU PUT TOGETHER
I think the new Monster High Beetlejuice have same hair texture than this fashionista & they retail $90 that will be much more in Europe w taxes & delivery 😂😂😂 But u did a great job anyway! Just keep the helmet on!

Arjen, I just got the Daisy Barbie doll with the guitar and curvy body. I don’t know how to fix her bangs as they’re just so short. She looks like one of those people who accidentally eff up their bangs cutting them at home. Do you have any ideas (besides re-rooting) on how to fix them?
whahaha 😂😅💖 uhm well I would wrap a ribbon or piece of thin rope around her bangs to flatten them in position. Then boilwash it and after that style it with gel (Like I did with Kira in my rainbow make over video from last week) Hope it helps! ☺️
I got the tie dye fashionista for $2 US 🙌🏾. #170;s hair is really bad and i don’t usually complain about hair but i couldn’t believe how bad it is. Im going to try and do a conditioner wash of her hair😩
