'Barbie' director Greta Gerwig laughs uncontrollably watching Michael Cera on the set, as his character, Allan, reacts to Ken's blunder on the beach. In behind-the-scenes footage, Greta drops to the floor laughing from Michael's guttural scream while filming the scene where Ryan Gosling's character bounces off an ocean wave in Barbieland. 'Barbie' is available to watch on digital platforms now.

The spinoff potential is off the charts.....sooo many options with individual stories would be fun. If Marvel and DC can give us a bazillion movies so can Barbie.

The way Alan reacts to Ken hurting himself is earth shattering and heartbreaking and hilarious, they really do seem like buddies - would’ve been interesting to see Ken react

They decided that Ken's personality was such that he longs for Barbie's attention and can be friends with some Kens and rivals with others, but doesn't want to be buddies with Allan. Yet Allan seems to feel for Ken.

When the show came out I was interested to hear how girls (and boys) played with Ken, if they even did. Some said they'd leave him around the house or in the yard. So how did kids play with Allan, if they even did?

Unfortunately, Allan and Midge were never that lucky on sales, and they were even unluckier when Mattel had the idea to make the family set were Allan and Midge were parents. Real life parents went ballistic over pregnant Midge saying it would lead to teen pregnancies. They're adult dolls that are married?? (we can have baby dolls to care for, and I absolutely was using the babies that came with my Skipper babysitter as kids for my dolls. No teen pregnancy here, but ok) So yeah, bad luck with lack of popularity (not their fault Barbie and Ken are the glamorous ones) and parents being insufferable...

I'm 37 and I had one Barbie growing up in the mid 90s. My aunt, may she rest in peace, had gifted me a blonde, tanned Beach Barbie from Florida. I remember playing with it every day. Fun times.

Michael Cera was the last actor in Hollywood I was paying attention to. Other than Superbad, i always thought he was a hack. HOWEVER! Now everything has changed! His comedic timing was so spot on, even just his physical embodiment of the character. Sure Allan is shy, but its not typical "Cera shy" theres an air of confidence within Allan that peaks out every now and again, and Cera has portrayed this BRILLIANTLY! Bravo dude!
