Actually, if "I'm Just Ken" does get nominated, it would be a hoot to watch Gosling perform it live on the Oscars. And it really should be Gosling and no one else.
Yeah, they'll turn this into a big production number. And this may well be the high point of the show. It's not like they'll be a whole lot of surprises regarding the awards. Unless somebody hits somebody or something.
I didn’t predict the amount of kenjoyment I get from this kentertaining BTS look at this song. I believe we all have a little Ken inside so I’m rooting for awards.
Definitely "I'm just Ken." Comedy doesn't get enough credit. Sometimes it's harder than drama. Ryan also deserves an Oscar nod for his performance. He really embraced the role to the fullest.
@@theboogeyman2590 YES! That's a great movie that got practically no attention.

"I''m Just Ken" is not just a song, it is part of the movie narrative. A perfect blend of old time musical sets with the ironic humour of the plot. I know Billie is a great singer, but I don't even remember her song playing during the movie. It is time for all the Kens of the world show the kenergy and get Ryan singing on stage during the Oscars!!!
honestly, its sucha well designed song, not overbearing catchy and relatable even if youre not the 10 or in that situation in a realistic sense. it just sits perfectly on that spot of "men have feelings too" whilst being funny
her song played during the moment between barbie and ruth where she was deciding whether or not she wanted to be human and it showed the montage of all the women and girls in the cast’s family

@@natdashg Great. But the Barbie's girls will get at least the Achievement in Directing or Best Movie Oscar. The Ken's deserve the best song!!!
Ken's song way outshines Billie's and Ryan is a way better singer! I can't believe Billie's is charting higher. Ken was the only reason i wanted to see it again.
I honestly think "Just Ken" should be the nominated song. It actually made you feel, how Ken feels. It was perfect in every sphere of Barbie, nobody ever thought of Ken, it was always just Barbie. It's moving and heart wrenching at the same time. I love it. ❤
I hope Ryan gets a nomination for his part. I remember all his scenes the most, he's just delightful. I knew Greta Gerwig would hit it out of the park. I've loved her since her mumblecore days!
In my opinion, "Im Just Ken" deserves an Oscar nomination. Ryan's singing is fantastic. I bought the Barbie album on CD because my second hand car doesn't have a USB port for music. I've been singing "I'm Just Ken" on repeat while driving everywhere. I've been singing it in the bathtub - and while I'm washing the dishes. My husband has probably had Kenough of my singing, but I don't care. I'll sing it while vacuuming. I'll sing it while mopping. And I'll sing it while hanging the laundry. Because I can't get Kenough of this song! 😃😍
I'm Just Ken will not leave my brain. Every day. Every night. I must play yet another clip. Just found the Billie EIlish song, i'm sure its wonderful. But I"M JUST KEN Captures so much on so many levels... it MUST WIN
I think just Ken deserves the nomination because at the end of the day which song is going to be remembered? Just Ken is the one that will be living rent free in everyone head for years to come and what was I made for will most likely fall into obscurity in a year or two. Not that it’s not a beautiful song but it is but let’s be real Just Ken is what everyone is talking about and making videos about.
I think I'm just Ken is more centric to the movie than What Was I was Made For. That said, I am more invested in Ryan winning an Oscar for best supporting actor!! ❤❤❤❤
Of course, "I'm Just Ken" is actually performed in the movie, but "What Was I Made For?" is pretty centric to the film as well, since its played during the climatic, emotional end of the film, and also plays at the bus stop, and on the radio when Barbie meets a certain person at Mattel. I appreciate that both songs are centric to the film, as opposed to some Best Original Song nominees that just play over the end credits.
Disagree there... What Was I Made For is more centric to the movie I love how they wove it in early on in the most emotional parts of the film and then at the end you got the whole experience of it. I'm Just Ken is freaking amazing but just like the song says lol he's just Ken and she's BARBIE her story her song deserves the Oscar if they only get to pick one which sucks they both deserve it
I never even noticed "What I was Made For" until the very end, and not in its entirety. I'm Just Ken stood out in entirety as part of the story and character.
@@jackwhitbread4583 That's your opinion but the message of the movie was about finding yourself and that even though you can live in a seemingly perfect world like where the Barbies ruled everything that still doesn't determine one's happiness and that's what "What Was I Made For" is about
I think both songs are Oscar-nomination worthy. Some songs deserve the nomination just to be performed at the event. I think Barbie should win a stack of Oscar, honestly, for being really entertaining, absurd and hilarious and really profound in a way that few movies ever pull off.
A-GREE. The Little Mermaid got more than one song nominated and still won, so it isn't a foregone conclusion that if both got nominated neither would win!
Yes, they should definitely have both nominated. I feel like Billie's song is more emotional and has a better chance at winning, but both deserve nominations.
Ryan Gosling steals every scene and every movie he’s in. I never expect movie stars to have a shred of decency or integrity or true humility, but Ryan has that in spades…so I have to reluctantly admire him as person.
Dang they both deserve an Oscar both of those songs make the movie and the message it's giving. Huge Billie fan here so I'd love to see her get another Oscar but also been listening to I'm Just Ken non-stop it's amazing too 😭💖💖
As someone who loves Billie‘s music I still think „I‘m just Ken“ shines more. It’s so unique in the way it combines comedy with profound meaning. Billie‘s song is beautiful but there are a lot of similar sad songs out there.
Like you, I don’t see it getting nominated over Billie’s song. But I really hope Ryan does get nominated for his role as Ken. That would acknowledge his singing and dancing in the “I’m Just Ken” number which deserves all the hype it’s getting because it’s so good. I didn’t expect Ryan to steal the show, but boy did he ever!
Strangely I don’t see Billies’ getting nominated myself, it’s usually Disney originals and showstoppers from other films that get nominated, and IJK absolutely is that song that would be easily performed at the Oscars as one of the showstoppers. I wouldn’t mind seeing both nominated though ❤️
It has to be nominated and it HAS to have Ryan and the 'Kens' performing it. That would be a ratings high that the Oscars needs. The song is a blast And Ryan is clearly having fun with it. But so are the other guys. (and side note- Scott Evans has been his brother's 'date' to many an Oscars. It is time that Chris is Scott's 'date' to see his little bro do his Ken thang!!) It truly is a fantastic diddy from Mark Ronson.
I love both songs but Just Ken is more profound and the layers of music are extraordinary. What I love about the movie is that it covers the time of Barbie's existance- about the same as my own- and the movie- the dolls- show a growth in people that is amazing -the song reflects that. This movie is just full of so much reflection on the human condition. Both songs should be nominated.
Thank you for mentioning Billie's song because I realized I hadn't listened to the full song apart from the movie, which I just did, and now I'm crying. So thanks, lol. But how CAN you compare?! They are both brilliant songs and *completely* opposite in tone and style. Oddly the messages are similar, though - about figuring out who you are and your place in the world. I hope both get nominated so both can be appreciated and performed at the Oscars. I don't think it would split the vote or take away from giving it to Billie if they think it should go to her, or at least I hope it wouldn't.
The Kens storming the beach at Malibu is one of the most hilarious ingenious things ever. Then the I’m just Ken number - dang, it’s like you know it’s hilarious but also you feel emotional lol it works on so many levels
I would love to see both songs nominated. They are really important to the movie and both are excellent songs that got a strong reaction out of me. I cannot stop listening to those songs on repeat!
This is similar to what happend with Encanto, with the song everyone loved and wanted nominated and the one they thought was the best (of course is good but We don't talk about Bruno was better). I just hope they choose wisely and listen to fans because I really want to Ryan performing 😅💙💪
Personally, I think both the singing as well as the scenic performance of "I'm just Ken" should get a nomination. I will probably buy the DVD only to rewatch the fight scene of the Kens over and over.
My vote: While "What Was I Made For?" is beautiful, "I'm Just Ken" has become iconic in record time (no pun intended). Besides, Billie Eilish already has already won a "Best Original Song" Oscar for "No Time to Die" a couple of years ago,so some voters might believe that giving her another nomination next year might be too soon. If "I'm Just Ken" does get nominated, there MUST be a big production number with all the Kens from the movie starting in tuxes, leading to "The Battle of Malibu" and ending with the Kens dressed in black, just like the movie. "I'm Just Ken" should be 100% Pure Ken-ergy" because it-and Ken-deserves nothing less, and never did.
I’m Just Ken gives me such joy to sing and to watch the video. His hand jestures- counting to ten, heart on chest, and stabbing his chest - are the BEST! Not to mention the nonchalant noggie (sp?)!!! I think it’s the most memorable song and easiest to get stuck in your head (in a good way).
Why would Billies song be nominated? It’s a good pop ballad, but there’s nothing special about it, and it’s not even very memorable in the end. It would be a tragedy to nomimate it before the masterpiece of ”I’m just Ken”. Even Dua Lipa’s ”Dance The Night” would be better, such a catchy but heartfelt song. On a scale from 1-10, ”I’m just Ken” is a perfect ten, ”Dance the Night” is a solid nine, but I wouldn’t put ”What was I made for” anywhere over an eight.
I think they should submit both. I think about Encanto and they didn’t realize how popular “We don’t talk about Bruno” would be because they had to submit before the film was released and they didn’t even submit it.
I wholeheartedly believe Barbie is much better than Oppenheimer, but we all know Barbie doesn’t have a chance against Oppenheimer, comedies don’t win Oscars.
Both a great songs, which makes me disregard the logistics of the possible vote splitting and want WBEI to submit both songs for nomination. Win ot no win, _I'm Just Ken_ deserves at least a nomination.
I found the song "I'm just Ken" really sad and painful. The words of the text spoke to my spirit as a child and to my heart as a teenager in love who was never noticed or worse, was promptly rejected with the phrase "to me you are just a friend". How many times have I suffered alone, crying in silence over the shattered pieces of my heart in love! It's a strong pain that you don't forget, and I can't laugh while watching the video of the song... I just can't see the comedy in that video, other than the fact that I see, with great pleasure, that the cast has really enjoyed creating it. The film is fascinating, full of ideas suitable for creating profound debates and reflections. Barbie has become a vehicle for great messages.
It's not actually a comedy song, although it does have some humous eye wink moments (blonde fragility lol) the dance sequences, styling and wardrobe are the comedy parts. The song is about finding your place in the world and discovering that you need to be satisfied with yourself first and formost. Like the movie introduces us to Ken saying he only has a great day if barbie smiles at him. Ken has to learn how to be enough on his own. If this song hurt you perhaps you just haven't learned how to do that yet.
Thismovie was surprisingly good. But in my opinion, Michael Cera absolutely made it better. Id pay money to watch an Alan movie. He totally kills in everything he does
I’m just Ken is my happy song, the Barbie movie is surprisingly delightful and clever, Duo Lipa and Billie Elish the Cherry on top. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"I'm Just Ken" will be well known 50 years from now. I'm not so sure about the Billie Eilish song. Still, to have TWO songs from the same movie nominated would be a big win in itself.
Ive seen rhe film 3x and dont remember that what was i made for song. Was it in the movie? That first song wirh Barbie waking up is more memorable imo Give it to ken, he needs a win
