Barbie princess and the pauper is an animated musical fantasy movie that was the first musical in the Barbie film series.

same!!! i think it's because they spent more time together than with their love interests and basically are the only ones who know what's happening. they also sing together, which anneliese didn't do with julian, and for some reason, that meant something to me as a kid, lmao.
