I so agree. My partner even loved Ken and was like "omg the horses". When you can laugh at your own caricature, they are doing a great job. He nailed this role and him being older made it funnier to me bc he looks so put together
Fr tho what happened to blooper reels at the end of movies? I miss that stuff. Like I was rewatching the Rush Hour movies and to just see the actors be themselves, make mistakes, and just have a good time is fun. It’s also better than sitting through 10 minutes of credits to get a teaser or just kind of junk scene that so many studios do now
Honestly it was like watching the best SNL skit in his scenes. Sometimes you can even see him trying not too laugh because he was not taking it seriously one bit. LMAOOOO.
@@SA-ey6ntThey’re referring to a scene where Barbie says that she’s not pretty anymore, so the narrator chimes in to say that Margot may have not been the best choice to make that point
@@toxiczombiewolf5692 oh my gosh I remember that! My friends was like “The President just cursed!” and my other friends and I were laughing with our mouths wide open
I love Ryan gosling and I too was skeptical if he’d pull it off and he literally carried the whole movie. He’s the most underrated comedic actor there is. His timing is impeccable
I don't think Great knows anything about Ken, or ever owned a Ken doll. Otherwise she would know the only way to play with a Ken doll is making them kiss with the Barbie doll all the time, and they live happily together. Not like the duchebag Barbie who treated Ken like a piece of poop. Aqua did it better.
@@buskergirl girly u said it urself that ken's just there to kiss barbie all the time. The whole point of his arc is that Kens are their own person and shouldnt be made just to please Barbies and vice versa.
I totally agree but at certain times it felt like he was trying to figure out his character on the go. But he was still the best part of the movie🤣 Here are my thoughts on the film: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4On3_mu6FXw.html
I haven't seen this film, but when you said sunglasses over sunglasses, I immediately thought of the movie "Airplane!" 😅 There's a scene where someone takes off their sunglasses only to have on a second pair of sunglasses! Ha! 😂
No offense to Gosling, he was great; but Reynolds would have slayed this role and made it even more hilarious. Reynolds > Gosling when it comes to humour, IMHO 👀
@@djzktymI don’t know!! I thought so originally but after seeing the movie, i don’t think so. Gosling was unexpected. And sweet and naive, in a way i don’t think reynolds would have been. We won’t know for sure now, but i think gosling killed it!
@@threesixfiveart563 i agree...i think reynolds comes out as a little sarcastic/ironic when he's trying to play nice/sweet guy so i don't think he'd be fitting...gosling slayed the naive ken
Couldn't he get a male lead nom for this role? He was a supporting character to Barbie, but he was also the male lead. The movie does have Margot's and Ryan's names headlining the movie. I honestly don't know, so that's why I'm asking. Whatever the case, he really should get he nominated!! That would be SO COOL and SUBLIME!
@@TheGoldenEllieMae Generally those awards look at it in terms of characters not necessarily like every movie has a "female lead" and a "male lead". Like a lot of movies have majority male casts or female casts and a supporting character that was the opposite wouldn't really be considered for that lead award. There are some exceptions, though. Most notably Anthony Hopkins won for lead actor in Silence of the Lambs even though his character had like 10 minutes of screen time.
@@PowerNapProductionsjust trying to remember, isn't Gosling 2nd billed in the open credits not at the same as Robbie? Here are my thoughts on the film: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4On3_mu6FXw.html
He’s been playing way too many serious and matured type of roles throughout his career… u can tell he thoroughly enjoyed this one… it really is refreshing
it takes recognizable talent to be able to improv within your character and truly bring them to live. glad that Ken is getting the recognition he deserves
Don’t get me wrong, Margot did a fantastic job in her role and I couldn’t imagine any other person playing Barbie, but Ryan just STOLE the show! I hope we can see more of him in comedies.
His hair color made him “stand out” & emphasized his comedic acts. Viewers get to focus on him more. Wearing his natural blond hair won’t get him same result.
Ryan is a funny dude. He played that role extremely well. And he seems to keep the improv from getting out of control, but fitting within the character. That "sublime" line was so good.
I don't care what anyone says, that movie was awesome!!! Ryan had me laughing so hard, and Margot was definitely the perfect choice for standard Barbie... Loved the whole cast, honestly! 😊❤
A lot of blacks in the south have a way of saying something that are funny but hard to understand. That black lady understood fully well that “I’ll beach you off right now.”
I remember everyone was complaining about Ryan Gosling's casting in the Barbie movie before it was released, saying he was too old to play Ken and blah blah blah. NO one is complaining now. Kenough said.
