Streisand has just released her autobiography My Name is Barbra. If you really want to hear her at her best? Find her early signature song Happy Days Are Here Again, from her 1965 TV special "My Name is Barbra". This is the theme song/scene from A Star is Born, which she starred in. You nailed the reaction.

This is one of my favorite Barbra songs, very nice reaction Lizzie. Hope you can add Karen Carpenter to your list of Women's History Month in Music, a nice choice would be her interpretation of Leon Russell's "A Song For You" (the 5-minute version with its sax solo/break in the middle) -- she hits some of her lowest notes ever in that classic tune, which is saying a lot since she had a very deep "basement." 🙂

Won an Academy Award for Best Song. Lyrics by Paul Williams. Music by Barbra. It was her second Oscar and made her first woman to win academy award for song composition. "Evergreen" spent 3 weeks at #1, the soundtrack 6 weeks (8M copies world wide) and the move was #2 in box office sales at year's end.

Lizzie, SAG rhymes with bag, and stands for Screen Actors Guild, which is the labor union for actors and actresses. So the Lifetime Achievement Award she received was for her long and illustrious career as an actress.

Listening to "Evergreen" calms and soothes my soul, Lizzie. I'm very happy that you've chosen a video of Barbra because then I can see how pretty she is. And combined with watching a new video that 'The Gangster Hippie' has posted. I can see 'The Stuffed Animal Squad' behind you, beautiful Missy. I've got another Barbra Streisand "A Star Is Born" song on my phone's playlist: "I Believe In Love" It seems that every video you post affords me a few minutes of peace amidst the horrifying news being reported. Since you love great female singers, I suggest one you may not know, Lara Fabian. She is well known abroad but less well in the US and she is a friend of Barbara Streisand. The song I recommend is called, Broken Vow, live from the Lara with Love concert. I think you will enjoy her and her voice very much.

Great choice Lizzie! I've enjoyed Barbara Streisand's music since I was in high school back in the 60's. She truly has an amazing voice. I'd like to suggest the live performance of I Can't Stand the Pain by Lisa Fischer. It is amazing! Thanks Lizzie!

Hi Lizzie, this is good stuff. Could you please consider reacting to Lucy Thomas singing Evergreen. This you lady is amazing. She covers all the great diva lady songs. She began singing on RU-vid when she was about 13 and just turned 20 and has many drops that amaze ANYONE who hears her wonderful voice. I’m happy to see your reactions, thank you.

Go to Judy Garland's version of Star is Born 1954 and the song The Man That Got Away, or just watch the whole damn movie. They snubbed her and didn't give her the Oscar. So her daughter Liza Minelli in 1972 got one for her for "Cabaret." It was like Judy giving them the big middle finger from the grave.

Wow, a Live version. Back then Barbra sang so beautifully. In the 1980s she went in another direction, over singing everything, singing AT us; not TO us. It sounded like she was constantly proving her capabilities. This was absolutely gorgeous!

SAG (hard G) is the Screen Actors Guild, and her speech can be seen on YT. Even her speaking voice, like her singing voice, is mesmerizing, inviting you to listen and feel every word. Barbra has always been a fanatic for truth, and it shows in her work, whether she's singing, acting, writing, or directing. One of her mottos, "What comes from the heart, goes to the heart." This scene, from her 1976 version of "A Star Is Born," was actually a rehearsal and done in one take, but was so organic and real, it was put into the movie. Barbra never lip syncs and she doesn't believe in dubbing, so it's all in the moment for her, which is why you never hear her sing the same song the same way. Sure wish you would do more Barbra... this is s talent only experienced once in a millenia. Enjoyed your reaction, as I did the one you did several months ago of Barbra and Donna Summer on "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)".

Actually, Barbra only did one concert in the 80s (1986), the "One Voice" concert, which wasn't a public one for profit, but a fund-raiser to raise money for various causes she was passionate about. Tickets were $5,000 a piece, and the concert was performed in her backyard in Malibu, where the attendees were the who's-who of the entertainment and political world. Barbra actually didn't perform concerts for personal profit from 1967 to 1994 (with the exception of a handful of Vegas gigs in the early 70s), until she returned on New Year's Eve 1993; her last concert was in 2019. Her concerts sold out in minutes, and tickets sold for thousands$.

@@donnamentrasti2695 , thanks , I was thinking it was the 80’s but yes early 90’s because I remember when I lived in Tucson And remember concert tickets in Vegas were $400 , maybe scalpers pushed them into the thousands, but those ticket prices In them days were never even dreamed of !!! She definitely was a Superstar! ✌️
