Streisand really got some great hip romantic comedy roles in movies in the late 60s and 70s. A singer turned into a really good actress. What's Up Doc, For Pete's Sake, The Owl and the Pussy cat etc. Fun stuff. Loved it. She must be in her 80s now. She really had it going on then. She was cool.
I saw Barbra for the first time in this movie. My sister and a cousin had me hide beneath a blanket on the back floorboards of the car coming up to the booth of the drive-in we were going to in Freehold, NJ. They thought I wouldn't be old enough to see the movie (?), and once they saw that I could, had me come up so they could pay for my ticket! I was just a kid, but I was stunned seeing her in this! And I remember loving this back then, as I still do! She was amazing playing different parts! And the songs were very clever lyrically! Awesome!
I saw this movie in La Habra when it first came out. I love every song on the album. I actually sing this song to myself when I can't sleep. Oh, and by the way? I absolutely loved the wallpaper, sheets and the alter ego, so there Micah!!!! It obviously wasn't your era, it's mine.
Saw the movie when it was released...love it. She was fantastic. So funny to see Jack so young. I think everything made this movie work. Her place....the music...the outfits...scenery...everything. LOVE the white gown she wore. I have some good memories of that time. Mostly from high school.
This was the third Streisand film I had seen. The scene in this film, with her in that white turban in the white dress, she was so beautiful and sexy. I remember reading, when she first started out, it was suggested to her that she change her name to something more conventional and she said she wouldn't do that, because how would the people that had made fun of her growing up, know it's her. Barbra sure got her revenge. I love this song. I love it when she goes into her upbeat jazz 1960s sound at 2:50.
Oh, I just found this video! Thank you so much amagingnestor55!!! This movie meant so much to my Mom and I. We sang all the songs, knew all the words. This brings back such wonderful memories as Momma is gone now.
This was a fun movie, but to tell you the truth, it was dated even back in 1970. The only thing holding the movie together is Streisand’s extraordinary voice and the way she wore the costumes.
GREAT TUNE.. always remeber it.. these are questions some of have? Who is the best guy ? She desreves the Best.. She got James Brolin.. LOL! Barbra has made me very very happy for over 35 years... since People /Funny Girl.. I'm glad to be alive because of the likes of her /Elvis ..Dean Martin/ Doris Day..Etcc., God Bless; Kelly B.
Just finished watching this movie. Love her movies "Hello Dolly", "A Star is Born", "The Way We Were" and I am not even counting her many albums and songs! Talented lady! My favorite songs are "Woman in love", and her duet with Barry Gibb "Guilty".
In that room with that wallpaper and in that bed with those matching sheets and pajamas and with a clone sitting on a chair staring at you WHO COULD SLEEP?
They also just cut this from the Broadway revival. I saw the show the other night and it's listed in the Playbill but not performed. The show still doesn't work,but a great cast and incredible songs.
