Yes , Raval is a bit dangerous. I lived there for 6 months before moving to El Poblenou. Poblenou district 22 has a lot of start-up companies. Please watch out for pick pockets in Barcelona. Take care of all your valuable and eating out on a restaurant terrace on the Ramblas don't leave your phone on the table.

@@redhead_inc I was living in an area called El Poblenou and had a one bedroom apartment that I was renting for 850 Euros per month and paid utilities separately but it was very cheap. Another nice area as will is San Marti and there is also Gotico. Oh my goodness, I miss Barcelona so much and literally fell in love with this city totally. I worked there on a 3 years contract for an american firm as a Tech Support Helpdesk.
