Bards are the best. A blast of arctic air into a large, open floor plan house is beyond compare. While the regular residential AC located on the roof is fine under normal circumstances, it is comforting, literally, to know that if you don't mind dropping a couple extra banknotes on 110+ degree days, you can make your home feel like a walk-in freezer within 10 minutes. There is nothing comparable.

At one of these now for the same issue thanks! Only difference is it's 25 ft in the air and the electrical portion is partially caulked in with siding 🤷‍♂️

You probably know but thats a lockout relay the HPS and LPS go through. it also acts as a DOM timer for compressor protection and it bypasses LPS during low ambient run times or in the case of loss of charge it will strike 3 times and lockout. Same in the case of high pressure events 3 strikes then lockout(dirty condenser coil is always the issue) I think they are solid state relays so they are pretty reliable. personally I haven't seen one go bad but like anything electrical they can go wonky. Also if you have 24v between ALM and COM on the LOR you can confirm the unit is in lockout. Older Bards are great units. They'll run R22 at like 450 head pressure with a plugged condenser and restricted cap tubes for like 20 years before the wires start melting off the compressor terminals. The newer ones will lockout on high head if a ladybug lands on the condenser coil haha. Clean the coils and those units are absolute tanks. I'm surprised theres no redundancy at that site. Cheers Taddy, love all the content!

Just worked on one of these units. The pressure switches were cutting off power to the CC. So i assumed it was a leak because I also had very low sub cool. Factory charged is 110oz and I pulled out only 65oz. I put nitro in to see if I’ll lose pressure and it wasn’t leaking. I thought I was the only guy servicing this unit so i went to the owner and asked him again if anyone serviced it. And that’s when I found the truth haha. A big company in my area serviced it and they left it with almost half the charge in it! Scammers are so annoying

I wanna be the guy who figures the problems out and fixes issues on service calls in the future , but is learning INStall a good place to start for my career ? I am reaching out to you for assistance with troubleshooting a Marvair Wall Mounted air-conditioning unit. The issue we are facing is that when we start the unit, the blower works initially, but after a few seconds, the compressor starts running and then abruptly cuts off. The reason for this appears to be that the condenser fan is not functioning properly. We have already inspected the capacitor, relay, PCB, condenser fan, and high pressure switch, and all seem to be in good working order. If you have any suggestions or ideas on what might be causing this problem or how we can fix it, please do not hesitate to let us know. We would greatly appreciate any guidance or expertise you can provide in resolving this issue. Time is of the essence, and we are eager to get the air-conditioning unit back up and running smoothly as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support in this matter. We look forward to hearing from you soon with any recommendations or solutions you may have. Your prompt attention to this matter is highly valued and appreciated. Warm regards,

On a Bard or Marvair package with a TXV, where do you place your clamp thermometer for checking subcool, right at the output of the condenser?

yes absolutely on liquid line

I’m a new tech. Most of my learning is residential. But how can you tell what’s a suction line and liquid line on a commercial unit? And how to tell what’s a high pressure and low pressure switch. Thanks
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 10 месяцев назад
Low pressure switches are the switches that usually have a blue color and they are on the bigger lines go into the compressor. High pressure switches are usually marked with red and they are the switches that go on the discharge line of the compressor which is the smaller line on the compressor.
@EarlHayward
@EarlHayward 3 месяца назад
Suction line is usually still a little larger… However, let’s just assume they are the same, then just look at your compressor and think about refrigerant flow! Phase monitors just don’t have issues! Every time I have had an issue it has been a blown fuse or other issue outside of the unit itself…

A single Bard on a container or building is a waste of money; and, yes, high for what could be accomplished with alternative brands. If you are not going to run multiple Bard (3,4,5 to 10, 12, 13+) units networked together, you shouldn’t purchase a Bard system! I don’t even know why there are videos for single/spot installs!
@EarlHayward

Head pressure 2XX and is low, let’s add refrigerant… Nothing like making conclusions with less than half the data!
