This was their first Junos apperance, so I remember some were scratching their heads as to why they chose this song instead of $1 000 000. It was perfect--and here I can remember it two decades later.
A whole story of strata bursting success and crashing down failure, all in one amazing song! One of the all time greats. wrapped up in a five minute musical saga...
definitely and by far my favorite song by these guys! They just don't have the same sound since Page left. The resonance of Page's voice made thier harmonies fantastic. And its missing along with the humor of the banter between songs in the live shows.
This is fantastic! Can't believe I haven't seen it before. They are incredible performers. And this song is one of the funniest and truest comments on fame.
What makes it funnier is that they wanted them to perform “Enid” at the Junos, but they said “Nah, screw it, we want to do ‘Box / Set’ dressed as clowns.”
@turbodeeznuts: It’d be better if they changed the rhyme scheme a bit to say 1998, since that was the year One Week came out. But, hey, Ed would never admit that One Week led to the destruction of the band.
have any of you ever tired singing this with a karaoke track? Stamina! I can't imagine performing it live...great job guys, way better than the album. (but Gordon is still ❤)
Though I will agree that Kevin is not as good at singing as Steve, he still has talent. Just because one person out of the band, doesn't mean that the other's talent will just disappear. I saw them in Boston a few weeks ago and they sound very good. They're new music is unbelievably good. Give them a chance, they are managing quite well. Take care. -Joe
