If you have Barespots in your lawn, this video is going to show you the best way to deal with them. Oftentimes, when we see bare spots from an overseeding or a bare dirt renovation. The first thing that we think about is dropping more seed in those spots. When often times, that's not necessary. If the barespots are smaller than a couple inches, the cool season grass (Tall Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass) will fill those spots in. In this video, I will show you some samples of grass blades to give you a better idea of how smaller spots will be just fine. Now of course if those spots are larger, seeds may be required. But in this situation in this video, it's isn't.

Very interesting information. Until your video it seems the conventional wisdom for tall fescue (other than rhizotomous cultivars) was it grows in clumps or bunches and therefore tends to spread very slowly. Consequently, reseeding bare spots was generally recommended. Because of your video I am rethinking my approach to those areas. Thank-you very much.

Great video, I’m learning so much from all of your videos!!! Can you do a video, grub damage vs fungus damage and how to tell the difference.

Thank you, RC. I can do that, but it will have to be in that time period when there is actually grub damage to a lawn so you can actually see the grubs and the damage that they cause with your own eyes. You'll get a better idea that way vs. me just telling you what grubs actually do.

I wish u had a video for when you get work done on your house and thee grass gets messed up, I had a new deck put in a basically had dirt and mud with barespots more than 2 inches

Great info at the right time as I'm contemplating on putting down more seed. But, what about BIG patches? I've dealt with my patches all year and putting down more sees was not working. Any experience with this issue and what are some options?

If you have larger patches, apply some seed to those areas and weasel that seed in so that you get good seed to soil contact. We're still in seed growing weather for Tall Fescue. If you have any rocks or gravel in those areas, get them out. You can also hand spread some Peat Moss over top of that large patch area. Make sure that you keep water on those spots. When I'm applying seed, I normally will water my lawn every 6 hrs for 7-10 mins to keep the seed moist. That Peat Moss will help in this process as well. If you're applying Peat Moss, just make sure that you apply a thin layer over top of that seeded area.

After you overseed do you just mulch to spread the seed or do you bag still? I was mulching before but now I bag again as I don’t want to clog my grass.

You da man brother. Seriously, not here to kiss your ass or anything to get a response. Just letting you know you great at what you do. The way you explain, and talk about things that people really need to hear is understanding your audience. I know my way around the lawn very much, and I still learn something Everytime I see your videos. One suggestion, I have been testing when is the best time to put a funguicide down when overseeding. There are certain funguicides that help with the seeding but if you added at the wrong time it could stun your grass from growing. It be nice if you do a video about this. Great job brother 👍🏾👍🏾

I appreciate you, viccou. I try my best to explain everything and make it as simple as possible. I agree about the fungicides. I think that would be for people like yourself who are a little more advanced and know their way around the lawn. Right now, people relate fungicides with fungus. They're gonna trip when they find out a certain fungicide will help their seed. I'll think about it because some things are already challenging to certain people. Even though this is another tool in the toolbox, keeping it simple for some is the best way without overwhelming them with a lot of products. Blessing to you, brother 🙏🏾
