Baritonin' with the Baritone

I've been messing with this tune for years, but never tried it on the baritone...when a friend requested a baritone video, it was a eureka moment. I'm kinda at a loss on what to call this little ditty, any suggestions?

Thanks for playing something besides chugging metal. It actually sounds great. I just got my 1st baritone guitar and I'm exploring the tones of country and jazz music. Very cool guitar with a unique sound.

Thanks JJJ, I really appreciate that. You know, I figure that time is about the most precious thing we have...and when somebody gives up some of their time to listen to my music or watch my stuff, then that is a huge deal. To me, it feels a little strange to call folks fans or followers...when they give up their time for me, I'm thinking I'll call them a friend.

What’s the difference between a baritone guitar and a fender bass vi and that’s not a trick question I honestly don’t know and I always wondered
@THEjohnnyfalstaff
@THEjohnnyfalstaff 3 года назад
@@robertcampbell6253 I'm not familiar at all with the bass vi, but i was curious...it seems like the bass vi uses bass strings and is tuned as a bass. A baritone guitar uses a different type of string and is normally tuned differently than a standard tuning. Anybody else care to shed some light?
@robertcampbell6253
@robertcampbell6253 3 года назад
@@THEjohnnyfalstaff yes it is tuned like a bass ( the bass vi that is )but it’s tuned halfway between a guitar and a regular bass and that’s what Glen Campbell used on “Wichita Lineman” but I love Red Simpson and all those truck driving songs and I wish I could play that stuff half as good as you do and I really like your good attitude and humor but now you got me wanting a baritone again I had a Dan Electro that sorta looked like a strat a few years ago but I remember it had three buttons on it and one button played a g tone so you could tune and one button had this knarly ass sounding fuzz tone and I can’t remember what the third button did but thanks for getting back to me

Thanks! That’s cool, I haven’t heard it...but I’ve been out of the loop for a while. Who is kickin the baritone these days?
@_s827
@_s827 3 года назад
@@THEjohnnyfalstaff off the top of my head I think there's been some baritone on Sidney Abernathy's album (which... Holy shit!), I think Jesse Daniel has some on Rollin On album, deke Dickerson released that wonderful Wild Wild Thing song featuring Bass VI lead, and I know I've heard it all over the place but can't remember who. As I hear tracks with baritone, bass Vi, or low guitar licks, I usually add those artists to my baritone playlist that I sent you.
@_s827
@_s827 3 года назад
Also Rhyolite Sound (also a HOLY SHIT! experience) uses it completely differently, more like a doubling-the-bass way, I found a couple of live recordings of Logan ledger playing with a baritone player. I'm pretty sure that I've heard it recently on individual tracks here and there, like recent releases by different people.
@THEjohnnyfalstaff
@THEjohnnyfalstaff 3 года назад
@@_s827 back in the day, a ton of records were recorded with “tic tac” bass...an electric bass or baritone guitar kind of doubling the upright bass...sometimes so subtle that it’s hard to detect.
