Barksdale’s Grave 

He was my family and have always known of him and heard many stories growing up. Thank you for giving more context on his legacy.

Thank you for making this video, I've been researching everything I can about him, from videos, pictures and documentaries of him.

Is that actually Barksdale's grave site? No disrespect, but I thought that after his body was exhumed from Gettysburg, his remains were re-interred in an unmarked grave in the Barksdale family plot of Greenwood Cemetery. This marker is actually Barksdale's cenotaph with his actual grave site not being known. Respectfully, W.S..

My great great grandfather James N. Wallace (17th Miss. Regt.) Barksdale's Brigade was mortally wounded at Antietam on September 17 , dying on the 18th.....

.In my eyes his charge at Gettysburg was the real high-water mark....If only he had more support....what an amazing story and charge....To his family....know that I walk the route of his charge yearly at Gettysburg......God bless Barksdale and the South....

The Barksdale surname comes from England and settled in Virginia, and dispersed elsewhere in the United States. There are a lot of Barksdales in Virginia!

I have often stepped where you stand now. I was under impression the General shared his grave with a cousin. Ethelbert Barksdale, former state politician. His widow couldnot afford a headstone. A relative had the means but refused. A large funeral procession was held up Capitol st.

My husband is a collateral descendant of General William Barksdale, we'd love to visit all of his important places. And also do a spirit box session with him.

My great great great uncle Captain Wesley Mellard was part of Co H 13th Mississippi Infantry of Barksdales brigade

I thought he was older than 41 Perhaps it's the painting by Don Troiani called "Barksdales Charge" depicting him with white hair... It would it would unbelievable to see American politicians displaying the courage of the convictions on today's battlefields. Just since the collapse of the Soviet Union there have been five separate wars embarked on by the US Government against countries that did nothing at all to us and those politicians were nowhere. Beginning with Serbia in 1999 and continuing still today with the ongoing war on Syria which has devolved into the heisting of 20K barrels of oil a day.

I just went on ancestry yesterday found out I am indeed a descendant of this William Barksdale. This is unbelievably crazy! That is my great *9 grandfather!
